Hi. I'm new to the forum and indeed to stalking. I've done some shooting in Africa (plains game mostly with 30-06) and I've started shooting here via a rifle club. I've done a fair amount of air rifle shooting here and I've had the chance to shoot and sometimes hunt with various firearms abroad including .243, .303, .375, .416, .458.
I've been out stalking a few times shadowing and I can now shoot on that land if accompanied...sadly not with my own rifle yet! FAC submitted in August for .308...I'm hopeful Santa might bring me a CZ 557 Sporter but I'm not in a major rush. I'm hoping to be able to stalk as part of woodland or reserve management. I'm doing DSC1 in New year and looking forward to developing as a stalker and marksman!

No where near enough yet! I'm certainly nowhere near being able or confident to go out alone - even if I had my FAC. But I'm hoping to build on that over the next year

Hi and welcome to the site there are a few good outfits up your way , inc in the forest of Dean , they offer outings on this site, Some will have estate rifles and this may be a way to get some stalking or boar shooting under your belt .

Good to know...I'm keen to hunt boar as well as deer if I can. I think I'll focus on deer until I get my DSC1/2 although I have a recipe for boar stew that might make that difficult
