Hikmicro Alpex not picking up IR

Shutter thingy sticking? When you cycle to night mode there should be a small but audible click. If you don't have the click it won't pick up IR.

Now we are getting technical  Generally it stays in auto mode but will check the "shutter thingy" noise later 👍

You sound like 75 he posted (right you are going on the ignore list) next day he popped in with a comment lol

As I said you have no will power
   I love your posts so much Timmy...but alas I have to click on the "unignore" bit to do it which is annoying... give yourself a slap on the back for yet more unwanted posts..I imagine being single there is no one else to slap you on the back  See if you can carry on the Timmy the Terminator Muntjac Massacre ...I know we all love to see the same boring old content day after day 💋

Anybody had any issues with their scope not picking up the IR output?

About 2 weeks ago my Alpex decided it didnt like the IR and the image for obvious reasons wasnt good.

Initial thought was an issue with the IR which is a Ward Dark Engine Blade . Tried the IR with my Zulu and no issue so tried a NM 800 and NM 400 with the zulu and all worked fine. Went back to the Alpex and no joy.

I factory reset the unit and still had the issue, cycled through night modes and automatic mode and still had the issue. Sent back to Elite Optics and they tested it and apparently all was fine...had it back and same issue.....Image during the day is spot on both in day and night mode, I also make sure I select the correct shutter setiing for day and night.

Im going to check it again tonight and maybe leave the unit of for a bit before I see what its doing.

Anyone experienced this and what was the outcome?

Any thoughts are welcome
I would imagine that the Alpex (like every other day night scope) has an IR blocking filter that sits in front of the sensor to correct the colours during daylight. When switching to night mode, this filter should move out of the way.

It sounds like this is stuck on your scope so IR is being filtered out during day and night modes.

Cheers

Thanks Clive and agreed. Checked again last night and when you turn the IR torch on you can see it about 10 yards away (very faint) then after about 20 yards its gone. I recorded this on the scope so back to Elite.

Is it set to auto mode ?
Set it to night and see if that helps ?
I’ve had it auto mode into day mode in the dark , which rendered it hopeless

Tried all of them mate...and a fair few times.

Was fine in auto mode, then had issue, went through every mode - night, green night, orange night, auto, day, night and on 3 or 4 times.

I filmed all of the modes last night and it looks like (as Clive mentioned above) one of the filters is stuck so wont pick up the IR properly.

Its going back to the gun shop today so fingers crossed it actually gets sorted this time.

You clearly need to be shown how to use ignore button
 👍 I need to resist the urge to use "see ignored content" ..but to be fair it was my post so fair to see what had been said lol..even if it was a load of unhelpful crap. Fortunately most of the comments have been useful 👍

Ive had it a few times with my Alpex - annoyingly often when Ive picked the rifle up to shoot a deer and I'm met with a black screen. A software update seems to have worked for me - touch wood, I havent had it for a few months now.
