You’ve got a couple of options for the Howa. I’ve used both the ATI and the MambaMag conversion.
The ATI is much cheaper and seems to pretty common. Both the conversion plate and magazine are plastic, with the mag release being at the front. I’ve seen a few people complaining that these can be unintentionally released when moving through undergrowth.
The MambaMag is a full metal plate, which felt very well made. There isn’t any requirement to modify the stock, which is why I went for this one. The magazines are 10 round, and are a plastic bottom with a metal upper. I found the fitment to be excellent and never had any failures. The mag release is on the trigger guard, so you extend your finger out to release it - I preferred this to the ATI one as there was no risk of unintentional release. But, they are a lot more expensive…
My Howa is imminently going up for sale, so my MambaMag conversion has been removed and is now up on ebay.
Personally, I don’t think you can go wrong with either, but if I was keeping the Howa, or getting another, I’d keep the MambaMag.
