I came to find this site because of a question I posted on Google and one of the answers had this site highlighted. Looking through various threads, I thought I might be able to get some further thoughts on the question I posed.
I am 68 years young and still enjoy the thrill of the hunt! I shot my dads 16 ga at a gopher when he was a golf course grounds keeper - I was 5, and I shot out of the maintenance vehicle window ( no window just an opening). I was sitting on a bucket due to no passenger seat. Knocked me on my butt, however, I was excited when dad said that I got it! Ha! Been hunting ever since!
I have used a variety of firearms and calibers over the years. I enjoy archery from stick and string bow to crossbow. I enjoy upland game using .410 to my dads 16, to a 12 ga pump to now a 20 ga semi auto. Grew up with a pellet gun in my hand to .22 to buying my 30-06 when I was in the 8th grade - with my lawn mowing money! (no registration back then and yes - I made the purchase!). Since then I have utilized .308, .243, .223, .204, .22 mag, .45 LC, 44-40, 45-70 and over the past several years a .270wsm. I also am an avid and passionate traditional muzzleloader, shooting primarily flintlocks both rifled and smoothbore - although I have had my most success harvesting white tails and a few mule deer with a .52 percussion I built in the early 1980’s.
So there! Now you know more about me than you wanted to I’m sure, but it was fun for me to reminisce!
Back when I only had 3 guns, my 30-06, my .52 percussion and my pump 12, they were a part of me - but since enjoying the variety of firearms and calibers I have lost that edge - thus I have questions. Looking forward to being with this group!
