Hunting Canada

Hi all
Thinking of going to Canada fishing next year. As I would rather be hunting or shooting does anyone know of any guides in British Columbia will probably be staying in chilliwack. Is it even possible for a tourist to hunt? Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

There’s a few Facebook groups for hunting over that way. Might be worth a try joining and asking on there.

From what I looked into, BC seemed more expensive than other parts of Canada but as you say, nice to tie in with a trip

Try taking a look at this channel and maybe reach out to Al who's channel it is, really nice lad and very responsive, he shoots with some of the MDT guys so could be a good place to start 👍🏻

Good idea. If your going fishing, perhaps you could do a spring bear hunt. Pretty sure it’s mandatory to hire a guide or hunt with a direct family member. I’ve always thought of Canada as the Africa of the North.

We have visitors with us here at the moment both Germans who were 30 years resident in BC they told me Chilliwack is almost in the greater Vancouver area now. They were in the Chilco river area, they had run a lodge there

Not hunted in Canada, but travelled a fair bit. I understood you need a tag, which is similar to a lottery competition - whether you get male or female and which species. I think the rifle season is relatively short with bow season much longer.

My impression is there are more deer to be had in UK particularly in the more populated provinces. Thermal spotter use not legal to my knowledge.

The above doesn’t apply to First Nations indigenous people who seem to be able to hunt what they like, whenever they like, and wherever they like (with the exception of private property).

There is a very active hunting scene, and also bear, wolves, lynx, mountain lion all act to keep game numbers relatively low.

Not cheap, when you factor in travel, guide, kit, etc particularly to remote areas.

Hunting Yukon, Nunavut or northern Saskatchewan really appeals to me.

I looked into a Black Bear Bow hunt and Quebec seemed to be the cheapest at around £1500-1800 for one bear,tag,accommodation,3 meals per day guiding over bait. Also, threw in a days fishing if you got lucky early on.
British Columbia seems expensive in the research I made, although fishing seemed far more affordable.
There is a great site called book your hunt, and you can compare prices, itinerary etc.
