Hypothetical question regarding calibres

Foxes tend to sit still quite often listening for mouse or something. Easier long shots on sitting foxes. You aim at head and end up in chest.
22 250 and 'laser bullets' is the way.

I once shot a fox at 800 yards with a 22.
@Smellydog , that's made my day 🤣
Possibly 25 years ago, maybe more,a long dead headkeeper friend of mine were out on his estate checking up on the birds/underkeeper/ general status of things. I spotted a fox running along the sheep netting, across the grass field we were parked in, and told him. All he had was his single shot Webley 22 target pistol. Not deterred, with words to the effect " you never know until you have a go", he had a shot at it.
The bloody thing fell over! He'd hit it literally between eye and ear,stoned it mid run🤣.
Till the day he died it was a standard laugh between us two,who would believe you if you told them that you shot a running fox at 300 yards,in the brain, with a pistol and 22 HV round.
Thanks again,fond memory of an old friend.

Buy a terrier and stop taking 3-4 hundred yard pot shots at living creatures.
Just because you can’t do it it doesn’t mean others can’t!

There’s those that shouldn’t do it and those that can, people just need to be honest with themselves which camp they fall into.

For me personally, 400 yards is a bit of a poke and I would get closer but 300-320 is fine
