I have always had a soft spot for an early Defender i have looked at quiet a few in the uk but none of them was quiet right for me, i spend the summer months in the Correze region of France, and was looking on the Bon Coin site and found a defender that interested me, it was a 1985 110 with a 2.5N/A Diesel, and looked in good condition. So Tuesday morning we left our cottage at 03.40am for the drive to normandy, We bought the landrover and drove back to the correze arriving a 23.00hrs a round trip of 800 miles, I know all about landrover breaking down but i don't care. when i look at it it makes me smile, and the good news is as there is no road tax in france and as it is over thirty years old the MOT is every five years, so total cost per year is 324 euro's for insurance. Cheers Geoff

I must admit i am not really a lover of the checker plate, its very sunny here in france at the moment and the glare off of the plate is overpowering you need sunglasses all the time whilst driving, also i leant against it the other day and burnt my arm, But as it was bought as a winter stalking truck it will be fine back in the uk. as with all landrovers i keep finding little thing that need sorting, on tickover the oil light flickered, a new oil pressure switch sorted that out and i also had to replace the washer pump, Cheers geoff
