As most on here will know, I shot a lot of Fallow with a .22rf as a youth. I shot a lot more when the farmer got a BIG rifle (a .22 Hornet). My first bought rifle was a Hornet, which I used on Fallow for 3 years. I never lost a deer and had total confidence in my rifle. Were it legal now I would use a .22 Hornet for Munty and Roe. People do not realise how versatile this little cartridge is at a reasonable range.
I shot my first deer - and several since, with a 22rf. It wouldn't be my first choice, but it cannot be denied that given the right shot placement deer won't walk away from it.
