In the market for new sticks

Little advice needed please.
I’ve saved up a bit of venison money and want to treat myself to some sticks.
(Santa didn’t deliver this year!)
I’m thinking either,
•Viper Flex Pro.
•Blazer carbon sticks.
Any pros and cons over one or the other?
Or any other brands I should consider ?

Had a home made set @£12.50 for the last 5 years, so consider the large amount of cash you can save also spend on something else...

Never tried the blaser so can't comment but the viperflex are excellent. Definitely better than the seedland and homemade ones I tried. The 5th leg makes them very stable

So, I have actually gotten to use both of these, but not for very long and with very little field experience.

When I was doing my DSC1 (and practice for it), the keeper lent me his set of viper-flex styx. They felt good, light in the hand (but I wasn't exactly travelling far with them...). Although the keeper did point out to me that in windy conditions they whistle - although this is because he'd lost the supplied cover for the adjustment holes.

Fast forward 3 months, and whilst out with a stalking guide, I got to use his Blaser sticks. Weight wise, I felt they were comparable to the viper-flex sticks. I personally much prefered the traverse on the Blaser sticks in comparison to the viper-flex front bar.

Ultimately, I wasn't keen to do a DIY set, and am a bit of a tackle tart (buy once and all that? 😂 ) so didn't fancy trying the Bushwear/StableStick options - as I'd read of folk bending them out of shape by sitting on them etc.

Local shop to me has the Viper-flexs listed at £195 (if I remember correctly), but then found out I could get a set of the Blasers whilst on holiday in Europe for £240 (I also had something in reserve from Santa) - and bringing them back was just a case of packing everything into the missus' suitcase then the sticks get checked in as sporting equipment. Still a bit of a spend, especially compared to the B&Q option, but in my very limited experience (3 days stalking and handful of range sessions), I'm happy with my purchase and felt like anything else would have been something I'd gotten in the interim before plushing for the Blasers.

Vipers - even a 35kg lump (apparently my best friend 😆) can’t break them after trying to launch/run in after a shot while still attached to me. 🙄

Save the money.

Get two 6’ hazel rods, some paracord, some pipe lagging and some vet wrap.

I am a terrible tackle tart, but I can’t for the life of me see the point in paying more than about £2 for sticks.

I’ve been using 2 hazel rods and some bike inner tube on and off for over 20 years.
So felt maybe time to upgrade 😆
A set of 4 b&q sticks with 316 stainless bolts would be a vast improvement... I remember one of the lads who posted lost 2 feet from his expensive stick only to receive a fresh pair made in Essex..:tiphat:

recently picked up a set of viper flex and post the whistle stopping and some comfy hand grips they are superb

you can save yourself some dollar and get one of the 3D fittings for the fifth leg off a guy off the sd and put your own on for pennies

i’m still getting used to my set but they do work

i tried the blaser ones of a mate but liked the solid feel of the biper

Well I can vouch for Stable Sticks not taking the weight of a tractor or three! Probably best not to ask how I know this…View attachment 345313
I guess on a serious note, I have been a bit sceptical of quad sticks and wanted a set to test. Not quite how I thought the testing would go but still. I have replaced them with another set but still find I am quicker setting up my old tri sticks. Just a memory thing. Will persist with the quads as they are a more stable platform.

I’ve purchased a couple of cheaper ones before buying a set of Viper Flex. It still keeps strong since 2019 and never had any issue despite my regular abuse on them. A few weeks ago I run over them with a loaded truck and they are heavily bent. I straightened them by force and hammering and they are still functional. I contacted Viper Flex asking for spare to buy and they sent me free of charge.
