in the news..

Another example of a self serving politician. It would seem you have the bulk of support going by the poll ?

A quite nicely reported article. You come across very well and reasonable. Two intelligent quotes from reasonable people at the bottom, and one from somebody who onlyhad the intelligence to manage one ignorant sentence.
Free advertising is good advertising!

So many businesses are doing the reverse, going from a physical store to online only, with the impact on the town centre. Big commitment from you Ed and I wish you all the very best.
Fond memories of gun and tackle shop on West Preston street in embra when I was a kid - at primary school! Hopefully all goes smoothly for you - I have to say you put your side across eloquently, and good to see the reporter giving your side in the piece.
:tiphat:

As mentioned, you come across very well - I wish you all the best of luck growing your business.

I would venture that, in the not too distant future, some parents will be regretting giving their kids unlimited access to gaming / internet / phones / the corner shop for sweets and crisps etc, as these pose far more of a threat to children than a shop that promotes and supplies goods bound for outdoor pursuit in the fresh air?

I’ll admit I’m not too up on Scottish politics but there does seem to be a trend against shooting / large estates etc being pushed by the SNP?

Typical labour, and typical media, why all the pictures of glock pistols in the series of pictures on that papers website.

Thank god the sensible seem to be outweighing the idiots in this case. He strikes me as being exactly the type of snowflake who makes the absolute worst type of politician

Good luck with this Ed, in a time when many are giving up on having a physical shop ( ongoing expenses and outgoing) for the cheaper just online, it beggers belief that this idiot would so blatently, send a personal letter to the Divisional commander, who he addresses in first name terms asking him to block a legal business starting up

Typical example of the type of self-righteous, ignorant, prejudiced, and stupid person that sees politics as an easy way of actually avoiding having to work for a living. And I note he's making a big deal of having 'ADHD'? In my day this didn't exist, as it was cured in the early stages by virtue of a smack around the head. Reinforces my long-held assertion that wee assholes grow up to become big assholes . . . . . .

You came across very well - best of luck with this, hope it works out well for you.

It's refreshing (and surprising) to see
so many positive comments in your support. Also well done to the paper for an unbiased article.

One of the MSP's comments is particularly puzzling. I just can't see what is wrong about "the normalisation of shooting for sport in an area which is regularly passed by children".
From my perspective, normalising shooting sports can only be a good thing as it could help to reduce some of the concerns which seem to exist (in general I mean).
The down-side of gaming has already been mentioned & some games appear to be all about blowing the enemy to bits! What is this teaching kids & how far is it removed from the well regulated reality?
Unfortunately, there is a certain element who choose to portray shooting sports as posing an extreme risk (not quite sure to what) & seem to consider those who indulge in such sports in an extremely poor light.

You beat me to it VM. That comment about 'normalisation' is an astonishing attack on the shooting sports community. The other comment from Sheena Beck reads “Too much violence on the streets already.” What on earth has that got to do with the price of fish? Thankfully there are some more evenly balanced and supportive points of view put forward in the article.

Just stopped on the way back from a shoot & notice that you've made the front page of the Evening News.

keep going down for the comments

I couldn't resist . . . . . .

'I moot an immediate petition banning the keeping of those lethal weapons found in kitchen drawers all over the country!!! These potential killers are in the possession of people who are untrained in their use, unlicensed, and allowed to purchase them OVER THE COUNTER even in supermarkets! They are in daily use by even the most mild-mannered of housewives who use them to stab and dismember animal carcasses! It's only a matter of time before someone uses them on their own children. Ban them! Ban them now, I say . . . . .'

:D

Best of luck Ed, 50 years ago Edinburgh would have been glad of the shop opening, o how times have changed.
