Hey guys, my name is Lakhan Clark, I'm a 23 yr. old hunter from NZ, who's very keen to experience some of the UK hunting culture, along with the unique species you guys have access to (and the unique landscapes).
A bit of introduction about myself, I've been hunting since i was a kid (10 yrs) but got into big game hunting at around 16, harvesting my first fallow doe in the south island of NZ. Since then, it's grown into a real passion, and has taken be across the country hunting the huge diversity of game species we have access to. Fallow, sika, reds, tahr, wallabies feral goats, feral pigs and arapawa sheep and a lot more have been ticked off the bucket list, with chamois, wapiti, whitetail, sambar and rusa to go. Other than the adventure of it, the food aspect is a big motivator behind why I hunt, basically living off the stuff for the past 4 ish years, as a away to live a bit more sustainably and control where my food comes from. Have also worked as a hunting guide for a but during the roar seasons, guiding for reds, fallow, and tahr. Have also written a few articles for MeatEater, as writing is another hobby of mine.
Have some family living in the UK atm, so keen to seize the opportunity and chase of the of unique quarry you guys have like muntjac, water deer, roe deer and the various game birds you have. The UK and NZ hunting culture are night and day apart (30% of nz is public land for instance, very different to the mostly private land culture of UK), and would love to learn about it a bit more. Plus so many of our game species were imported for UK stock (sika and fallow from Woburn park, and reds from Scottish estates), so there is the cultural herritage aspect to it to.
