I live in Newcastle Upon Tyne and have been using the site as a guest for the last year or so. I have applied for my FAC and had my home visit a week ago so I should receive a decision soon. I lived overseas for some years but have always been interested in the outdoors, wild camping and general feel good factor of being out in the elements. I have been a member of a couple of rifle clubs for just over a year, shooting mainly .22LR on indoor ranges and use centre fire club rifles on club meets. I completed my DSC 1 last May and did a pre DSC 1 rifle handling course beforehand, obviously there is a big difference between carrying a rifle in the field to shooting on a range.
The main reason initially for applying for a FAC was to stalk as I like the idea of being self-sufficient and putting meat on the table whether that be a rabbit or venison. However, I am also interested in PRS shooting as I like the fact that the shooter has to adopt different positions that they would possible face in real life situations. So once I get the green light I intend on doing some paid stalks in Northumberland or Borders to gain more experience and work towards my DSC 2 and try to find some land or a syndicate I could join. I have already found this site very useful and will no doubt be asking for recommendations for stalking in the very near future and asking lots of questions.
