HI, I have been a shooter / hunter for 65 years or so. When I was younger I hunted small game, and for the last 20 years or so I have been hunting whitetail deer. Where I hunt, in the middle of Kansas in the USA, the shot can be anywhere from 40yd to 300yd. Actually the shot could be longer than that, but that is about where I draw the line, based upon my ability and my desire for a one-shot, clean kill. I have mostly hunted deer with a Remington 722 in .257 Roberts with hand loads. I have been intrigued with Drillings for some time, but only recently have I acquired a couple, and when I ask a question about them online, I am frequently directed to this site.

No different from any other single shot rifle. They are not popular in the UK but can shoot very well. Bit pointless having two spare barrels you can’t legally use on deer.

Welcome.

It would indeed be pointless to carry the two 16ga barrels along if you couldn't use them for deer. Here, in Kansas, we can legally use shotguns for deer (slugs only) but the majority of the time I shoot at a range that would be disadvantageous for the shotgun slug. I will most likely continue to use a bolt-action rifle for deer hunting. The drillings are mostly just because I think they are interesting, and beautifully made. But you never know, I have some ammo coming in the mail soon.
