Jail for stirring up hatred on Social Media

The social media platforms should also be held accountable and if they cannot rapidly police themselves during periods of unlawful rioting by removing the users like the two men jailed then shut the platforms down to all users during the rioting that would send a clear and powerful message to the social media platforms.

The muslim preachers of hate spewed their vile doctrine for years on London streets whilst the establishment protected them and their rights.

The Old Bill marched alongside them as it was a right for them to express their ideology in our country and do it under the protection of our laws

A personal view on facebook however is a "go to jail do not pass go"

Hilarious BS

Can you state what powerful message was sent to the imams on speakers corners that spewed hatred for years whilst under the protection of UK Police to those within the UK that did not share the same faith??

Were prisons suddenly made available? how many were within the courts within days being served prison sentences?

All pretty quiet as i remember

little knowledge of that period in are history possibly because speakers corner reaches out to very few people but social media has the potential to reach thousands or more in seconds.

Was it not obvious that the sentences being passed would be such to act as a deterrent.

So it’s based on how clever you are at sharing a message and not the message itself? 🤔

Why is it not obvious to expect transparency and fairness by a judicial force - the preachers of hate were left for years to spew their hatred.

Take a look at Bradford and the grooming scandals - a fear of being labelled racist kept the investigation forces from fulfilling their duties

There in lies the problem - complete lack of backbone - transparency and fairness within UK Policing.

Mmm, well a black labour councellor, Ricky Jones has been arrested at charged by the CPS for encouraging violent disorder.

“Jones was filmed addressing a crowd in Walthamstow on Wednesday 7 August during which he appeared to make remarks and a gesture to encourage others to act violently towards far-right protestors," the CPS said.

It is still early days for the new administration, but they do appear acting swiftly and decisively regardless of which side of the debate you on. Act unlawfully, go to jail.

I suspect the previous administration would still dithering about whether or not there was disorder, how it would affect their own electoral chances and whether or not they and their friends could make huge amounts of money and gain some peerages :)

We have had many years when the Police have pretty much been withdrawn from our cities, towns and villages with numbers cut hugely. And there whole generations of youngsters who do understand basic rule of law. There are a good number who went out for a few drinks who won’t be home for several months.

And your point is ?

If you are blind to the lack of transparency within UK policing then so be it
