Not pleasant viewing at all.
What is said and what they do do not necessarily match up. It would need much closer scrutiny on much better gear than I have - plus the proper authorities can match the rifles shown shown against what is on relevant persons FAC etc.
We've discussed it here before - video footage is wide open to misinterpretation; so I leave it to the authorities to investigate - I certainly agree it should be brought to their attention.
These people came across ( to put it mildly ) as total idiots. As portrayed, their actions do immense damage to the fieldsports/ shooting community. If the general public can be persuaded that this is typical behaviour in terms of how we conduct shooting activities and how we treat animals then its game over.
Regardless of exactly what did happen on the occasion of this filming, the events as they came across on that video are simply unacceptable on every level. I am quite certain those involved dont think of themselves as idiots - and yet that is the unequivocal picture they chose to paint of themselves. There's an serious lesson for us all there. Unless we each take individual responsibility for our actions and drop the egotism fieldsports will eventually be gone forever.
I'm not pushing DSC1 or any other kind of training here at all - but you can very easily envisage that these jokers see absolutely nothing wrong in what they have done. Its not a huge leap to put words into their mouth - 'I've shot for twenty years and my dad for 40, what can some boy in a shirt teach me about how to shoot'? How many of us have actually paused to consider just exactly what such words may mean?
