Labour manifesto

So really simple maths
Grant costs £100.
Renewal costs £75
Variation costs £25.
Total cost to plod £200
Where’s the spare to pay for anything else?
They're saying they'll make us pay the actual cost of it. So the "spare" is the saving of whatever it currently costs them over and above what we pay.

Again, I DO NOT agree with it as a policy, but it would work to free up money from that budget to use elsewhere

this full cost recovery is nothing more than a pseudo politicians cowards way of saying we are going to put the cost so high it will put people off applying/renewing
they said this last time if im not mistaken, this is like the copper thing make it too expensive for people to buy factory ammo instead of cheap £20-50 lead now 45-80+ monolithics

has no one picked up that police, military, secret services would not be subject to a lead ban either just hunter's and target shooters,

says to me it isn't really about public health with lead more about making the cost high and putting folk off doing it otherwise they would be subject to it as well if they really
thought lead was that "toxic" Police/Mil/Secret Svcs would have to be using copper in their service rifles/pistols etc
The reason the military and police don't want to use copper ammunition and want to continue using lead is simply because it is better.
Outside the bullshitting and politicking which infests the civilian regulation of firearms, this topic doesn't even register a flicker because the longstanding truth of the matter isn't at question.

Here you go; it looks like the Conservatives have recently considered the same:

Only theoretically. The last time the cost of certificates was set, they were set at a price which was compatible with full cost recovery for a competent police force, as BASC has pointed out. Now, the moment you set prices anew, the same process will start again with incompetent management and continuous new red tape inflating their spending, and the money won't be freed up.
Any plan for freeing up money from state spending which does not involve firing a lot of people and ceasing a function altogether, is not plausible.

The Government is really the user....as it's the system they want.If no certificate was required as was the case in past times, there would be no system to have to cover costs for.
Do burglary victims get charged the full cost of any subsequent investigation? Of course not, its a general public protection matter from which the whole of society benefits, just like firearm regulations!

It will work more than theoretically, but only in the short term and only to make the balance sheet look more appealing.

It's a crap idea, like most of Labour's ideas...

Not really. We’re currently paying £40 ( give or take )a year at the moment ! It’s peanuts. My mobile phone costs £40 a month and sky is £50 a month.
Let’s get it properly funded for feck sake !
If you think paying full cost will get a better service then no chance. Its to raise revenue so it'll probably be cut closer to the bone and take even longer to get anything issued.

Wouldnt we be better off with Reform ? May even end up getting handguns back eventually ! 1🤔😁
I would not be getting into pistols again in the UK the risks are too high. The following politico party would flip-flop the law back again as a vote getter. Then again banning them was the catalyst after liebore"s fox hunting ban that made it clear to me that the over regulated UK is not where I want to live, shame that it was so.

what strikes me also is that some folk don't pick up on labour - a guy running the party who wants to pm is a. an ex lawyer b. has sir in his title and c. flip flops on his views
and d. has only been a politician since 2015

not like politicians Tony benn life long mp who actually was a man of conviction, ideals even if i didnt agree with them and had views that weren't bought and paid for like others

What also is apparent is that the labour leader prefers Davos to Westminster that shows you where the man's loyalties lay with and
when he is on videos with Tony Blair on his youtube channel that have comments disabled show you it will be TB 2.0 govt people will get
For what it’s worth my opinion on MPs are if they want to be one for the good of the country let them be paid the minimum wage.

You really think it can get any worse 😂
Any increase will have to be justifiable just like everything else.

So currently they’re saying we don’t pay enough and it’s topped up from the public purse.
Where do you get any spare if they want us to pay the actual cost?
Plus it’s a national/government organisation there’s never enough.

We will not wait for those at risk to come forward. Local prevention partnerships will identify young people who could be drawn into violence and intervene. And to offer young people a pathway out of violence, we will place youth workers and mentors in A&E units and Pupil Referral Units, funded by full recovery of the cost of firearm licensing.

That is the wording. as said above...not a new thing being proposed and will the gears of government get it done?
So I pay more because kids stab each other!
