First is very local with SFI scheme having been planted which is growing from this "hot ground" so is making a bit of a draw with the mix of plants emerging, crossing a 250 yd open field is a challenge in daylight, next to impossible with the big deer but muntjac you have a chance!
Wind in my favor also the deer feeding away from me helped (not so later) once they turn around from feeding 9/10 you are busted, this first season Buck was engrossed in his food so I closed down a 100 yards as he worked away to my left. Shoot this field a lot meaning I don't need the rangefinder I sold years ago to know that will do,
1/4 going away so not the best angle but the revolving door at the muntjac breeding hotel is spinning all the time.
152 yds

Second Buck I have been on the sticks twice before but he was never settled so no good poking at him, this time he was feeding facing away from me but being older the instinct to look up and around was often. Same open field but not so far but his and my timing clashed as he turned as I moved "bolli#xis" then drifted in, however the draw of the fresh plant mix might be too much also he never barked as he went in. Move to a better position and wait as the light was going and the wind good, hares are a good indicator in my book for the night shift to start moving which was true as 15 mins later he drifted out for the last time, no fancy shooting just up the front end and done.

Back out last night to the "honey hole" to shoot for a good friend who is ticking along in year as he like to put it!
He has a new "toy" a Buttlo caller also his tin of sweets which I have removed from his pocket leaving it on a fence post on more than one occasion as it rattles lol
Lovely cool breeze good for 3/4 of the field but not the little hedge! an hour in I get "in the corner" as I was watching the field behind us, I spin around nothing lol
Usual make a move to nip off some yards as they drift in and out so while they are in cover I get in a position to cover that part which was "the little hedge"
My friend was Itching to use his caller so I showed him a soft call with the buck turning up a few yards back in cover, we need to move as it was going to be to close and he would come out go back in a second!
Getting to the back hedge gave me 80 yds and a bit of background, again with the caller the buck was out and sniffing the air for his last breath.

Much older buck in velvet also quite a difference in the hooves from the younger second buck.
Camera pinged this morning back on the local ground.
