Leather pawprint keyring work

I have made a handful of these over the years but they are fiddly so I try not to get blagged in to it too often but someone recently saw a friends and here I am making another. This leather is so cool so thought you folks might like to see it. Zoomed right in you can see the grain and crazed structure from the tanning process.

It takes an age to get a little piece of hardwood inside the nooks and crannies to burnish the interior edges smooth to realise a decent finish but I am really pleased with this one. The brownie points mateyboy will earn better be worth it. Time to stick the sandwich together now and do the border stitching after rounding, sanding and burnishing the edges.

It is some old Pueblo Ortensia offcuts I found in my box. You should definitely try some. It takes on a brilliant patina over time. It changes from a slightly rough(ish) surface to a mirror/glass like smooth surface with non uniform colouration. It also burnishes better than most veg tan leathers.

Out of interest, what does the final keyring look like?

That is really nice .
How much do you sell them for ?
I don't sell them to be honest. Tend to be more for friends or for a friend of a friend here and there.

The problem with selling items like this is that it is just a keyring, so I kinda feel I am limited in what I can ask for it. After all, it is just some small pieces of leather (very limited material costs, prob about £2) but the time required to make them is the issue. Because of that, i feel the price would be prohibitively expensive to bother offering them for sale. Having said that, everytime someone sees one, they instantly ask for it  . They take me about 3 hours to make, so you can see how the price could be quite outrageous for something so small.
