Any user reviews of the Leica Geovid HD-B (Typ 500)? Especially the 8x56 with regard to optical performance rather than rangefinder capability, e.g.
field of view,
veiling glare control,
focus sharpness,
chromatic aberration,
distortion,
etc.

I have the 8x42 HD/b... the only comment I would make, other than to say that optically they are amazing, is that x56 would seem a little ott.. my x42s are plenty bright enough, incredibly so, and at the point i cant see anything through them, it is pitch black to the naked eye... x56s are a lot heavier... 25% more so and bulkier to boot by about the same proportion which would make an already heavy pair of bins uncomfortably so with no real advantage gained.

I have compared the 8x56 and 8x42 and 10x42 side by side

My god they are bright!
I am not an optical engineer so most of your questions are way over my head
I can't imagine the optical characteristics of the focus and distortion being any different to the other smaller Objectives
but..

the direct comparison is impressive, I can imagine at a lower light than my test they would show some improvement, whether this is noticeable to you only you would be able to comment (all eyes are different)
however they are noticeably bigger and heavier
