Being a muzzleloader shooter cleaning from the muzzle isn't a big deal for me.
A simple muzzle protector and decent cleaning chemicals it's quite easy with some absorbent material by the breech.
One Winchester 94 that came my way would not shoot well but the bore was orange with gilding metal.
After a couple of nights soaking in solvent most of it was gone and it shot very well after.
In fact, I find it as easy as the Marlin and no risk of losing the ejector and chewing a screw head up.
Of course if you are shooting lead with enough lube and not the lousy commercial bullets with a single lube groove filled with what looks like jam from a tart you probably won't need to clean the barrel for a long old time, like 22.
