Wanted: Looking for DSC1 course (preference in the South England)

Hi all,

I've been looking for the past few days on a place to book the DSC1, unfortunately for one reason or another I'm struggling to fit in in terms of availability.

Have availability to do the course on the following dates:

17-19 May 2024
24-26 May 2024
7-9 June 2024

I would like to do it before end of June as otherwise I'm afraid I will only be able to do it later in October.

I have looked around, specially on the BASC page which has pretty much all the the spots I could do Fully Booked
I have looked at the BDS Training - being the only course not fully booked on a date I can't make it either.
I have tried DGVM but unfortunately the 17-19 of May didn't have enough candidates
And lastly I had a look at Greenlee Deer Management website which doesn't have availability until September

I was trying to avoid a long drive up north as I'm based in the South of London, however I'm not scared of a drive across the country - that should be fun

Perhaps some of you know other places that I have not tried, yet?
Thank you for your help
David

Not sure on distances (think I can count on one hand the times I've been to England), but you could try Ben Lightowler at DeerCentral? Think they're somewhere down south and believe he can do 1-to-1 courses as well to help work around your dates.

Thank you all,

I have looked into the suggestions mentioned by you and I'm waiting for the NGO to comeback to me as suggested by @ashray.

@Deerkeeper I got the BDS Training Manual and have access to their online quiz - they both great materials, but I would like to attend in person, from previous experiences it pays off to attend in person - online courses are great but on this subject I think I would rather do it in person and speak to people.

@Donkey Basher I understand where you coming from, although I don't think that's the case, clearly there's high interest in DSC1 (higher demand than available courses) and it would have been possible if there had been enough candidates to do the DGVM course that was cancelled (17-19 May). I have time now to dedicate to study and do the course, although between July-October I'm aware that I will be busy with our vineyard and the harvesting, if I can't do it now it will be several months until I can tackle the course in winter conditions ☃️

Have you tried Ben at Deer Central, he’s excellent and in Dorset ish.

Hi everyone,

A huge thank you to all of you for the fantastic support, suggestions, and recommendations. I truly appreciate you taking the time to reply – it's been incredibly helpful!

After some reflection, it's clear that rushing into this wouldn't be the best approach. Getting this certification isn't just about ticking a box, and I want to make sure I'm properly prepared.
@Donkey Basher Taking your advice on board, I've decided to hold off on the course until later in the year when I have more time to dedicate to studying.

In the meantime, I'm keen to explore ways to gain some practical experience that will complement the course material.

Thanks again for all your input!

PS: I would have changed the title or label but I'm no longer given the option to edit the initial post.
