Wanted: Lyman pilot insert

If it’s for the Lyman case trimmer l didn’t have one either for 6.5 so l turned down a larger pilot insert to fit the case mouth, one that l wasn’t using.

I did price one up but I’m too tight to buy one.

@Buchan

The pilot for the trimmer - holding the case in a straight line. They don't seem to be readily available. @Fosbery Holster I'm too cack-handed to turn one, even if I had the kit. I failed the stage 1 metal work at school being unable to file a bit of metal square!
@Buchan
Don’t get me wrong I’m no engineer all l did was select the insert nearest to size, put it into the chuck of my cordless drill and spun it whilst holding a file onto it, when it was fitting close enough to the inside of the neck of the case l polished it with some emery paper again whilst it was spinning, it doesn’t need to be a tight fit or it would bind on the brass whilst using it in the trimmer.

Dead easy, good luck, mind your fingers.

The Lyman Universal has .22,.24,.27, 28, and .30 pilots in Rifle, all of which I use. As there wasn't the option of a spare to convert, I ordered a .26 from Hannam's Reloading who are the main stockists. There are 4 spare pistol calibres for 9mm, .38, 44, and .45 which I've since converted to .334", .353",.374", and 448" to deal with necked-down rifle cases. The pilots are mild steel, so as Fosbery H says it's an easy job to reduce them with an adjustable-speed electric drill, and a fine file. ;)
