M12 safety vs manual cocking lever

Hi all,

I'm looking for a more weatherproof setup and have settled (on paper, at least) on the M12 Impact Black in 0.308. Has anyone tried the difference between the M12 with the normal safety vs the M12 with the manual cocking lever (which looks identical as far as I can work out). I'm based in Hampshire and am keen to look at both before deciding which route to go down. Mauser's own website states "A firing pin safety system is fitted as standard; this can be replaced by a 3-position manual cocking system as an option".

All best,

Z.

I’ve got the manual cocking on my m12, and I’d used a friend’s m12 with the standard safety previously. The manual cocking system does require more of a push and care releasing than the standard safety. But I’ve used it for 5 years now and no issues. Same as anything when you’re used to it, can do it without even thinking. Does that help at all?

I have three different types of manual cocking, blaser, mauser and pfeifer. Infinitely preferable to pushing a piece of bent metal backwards and forwards, opinions may vary !

Thank you, this really is very helpful. Sounds like the manual cocking is worth a look and I've managed to find both versions at different places not a million miles away so will be able to try just that element hopefully. Thank you again for your help.

Z.
