Marlin 1894 CST variant

I have my Marlin 1894 CST on Guntrader. I had it on there for about 2 months now and although I have 375 views, unlike with my other rifles no interest or offers which I find strange. As it is a CST version it should attract a premium price, I listed at £1599. I really dont want to drop the price much as it cost me £2500. These rifles should be popular in Gallery rifle competitions, no ? or maybe not as they are not the classic 1894....
Thoughts ?

they just don't seem popular for some reason , i have a 45/70 1-3000 winchester 1886 on here and not a serious sniff at all , seems lever actions are not desirable ?

Maybe you have a point, I guess they are niche and less used in competitions as they have shorter threaded barrels..... shame, chatgpt said more for suppressor users for hunting and pest control....

They are and I’d love yours but I can’t stretch to the (reasonable) asking price, so stuck with my Remlin 1895….

Yes I guess you re right, it is a lot.... lets see how it goes this month, maybe some nich fanatic will take it off my hands....

I must admit, I've not long acquired a blued variant. As good as the CSTs look, its not (in my eyes) worth twice as much for some stainless and laminate.

A lot of UK rifleman completely underate a lever gun.
Tactical is vogue, heavy barrels and only something capable of sub moa will do.

So they miss out on one of the nicest carry rifles out there and some of the sweetest offhand capable rifles going. Many now consider them just a fun thing which quite frankly is pathetic.

To me the blued/classic second hand are sitting about £650-750 usually, a CST would be around 1000-1100, and the above would be based on a .44, the .357/38 seem to be a little lower.

It’s going to be the mostly gallery rifle shooters that are looking at them.

I understand it’s frustrating after paying way more for it but that seems to be the price of them at the moment.

Good luck with the sale.

At least 75% of the levers guns for sale in the U.K. are going to be in pistol cal (and gallery rifle use predominantly) - so would only be any use for vermin, which can be done more efficiently with a 22LR. If they are deer legal you will likely be looking for a 30-30 and need leverrevolution type ammunition for it which isn’t all that common from what I’ve seen.

Lever actions are heavy for their size, just by the nature of what they are - not a criticism, but just the way it is - I love my lever guns but if you look at cost, efficiency and legal for quarry - a bolt action is going to win…

Only because of stupid British laws. Pistol cartridges work fine on deer. In England 44 magnum qualifies.

Never bought any of that ammunition all my life.

Just like other actions, not necessarily.
My 24" Winchester 94 is just over 6lb unscoped.
I've shot not many deer compared to some here but I have shot most of them with lever actions and highly recommend them if the ground offers sub 200yd encounters.

I only ever owned one Marlin and frankly was not impressed. I think they are favoured because some fear scoping a Winchester.
Never had any issues with Winchesters and they do carry better in my opinion.

Fair comment, ive had a good check and reduced my price to 1100, leat see if that bites, appreciate your feedback!

Guns are expensive to buy and cheap to sell. Fact.

What you may think a secondhand rifle is worth is truly different to what someone else thinks they’re worth handing over hard earned cash for.

You need to look at gun prices worldwide, way down on a year ago, the fact is you can ask what you like, what you get is a different thing.
