I was looking at one of these straight pull mausers recently and was intrigued, i never knew mauser made them. They do not seem to be expensive, were they a short lived disaster, or a good rifle overshadowed by the competition ? Any known faults ?

I know Webley Boy used one in .243 for a while. I don't know if he still has it, or if he moved it on through his RFD. PM him

I believe that short lived disaster was closest.
Havent shot one but someone brought one to the range last year.
The cocking lever/bolt handle is way to far forward and the action agricultural to say the least.
There is generally a reason that certain models disappear faster than a fast thing.

Yeah i was wondering about that Border, what had me foxed was the fact Roessler are still making them. Maybe they revised the design before starting production ?
