Maximum torque requirements for riflesmith?

I'm looking to buy a torque wrench for the various uses in connection with my various rifles, e.g. scope, chassis, barrel change. What is the maximum torque that I may expect to have to use on the rifle and / or fitted accessories?
Any recommendations as to manufacturers, models or torque wrench for above purpose. Not looking for the dog's ********, but want to avoid cheap and nasty.

Rings, bases, triggers and stock screw you need max of 65" / lbs


Barrel Change will require 90 - 100 ft / lbs

Get two torque wrenches if your going to do it right as one will not do t'other

I have a Britool ft lb wrench for barrels and a Seekonk inch lb wrench for small delicate things...

For scopes and action screws you might be better off with a torque screwdriver; not wrench. Britool are ok and all other quality tool manufacturers. Facom, Snap-on etc. Norbar specialise in torque tools and have a good reputation. Loads of second hand gear on ebay going for reasonable money.

Unless you have a means to check the torque, then you want to avoid cheap anyway.

Wheeler fat wrench is what I use as regards to torque settings

Scope rings 25 inch pounds
bases 65 inch pounds
stock screws 65 inch pounds depending on bedding

Manufactuers will tell you there given torque settings, there's also a few interesting articles on tuning loads with diffrent stock screw torque settings never tried it so sure sure on its effectiveness

Recommendations from Gunwerks is 35, 45 and 65 respectively.

Yep I use nightforce rings that is there recomendation 25 for rings and 68 for cross bolts
