Mcavoy guns

I’ve tried to reach them through phone to check stock but no luck hence I dropped an email and a few hours later got a response! They say they don’t accept credit cards or Paypal, but only bank transfer for mail orders. I really want to purchase the product but not sure I can take the risk of transfering the amount to a company which is closing.
I paid online via card and turned out there was nothing in stock I ordered, still waiting on a refund

The binoculars I am looking for is available in their stock they’ve confirmed, but strangely they only accept bank transfer.

They've always been a great shop. Family run, always very friendly and helpful. Lovely folks and sad to see the shop close. I've always had a really good customer experience there. I also heard back within an hour or two on my list recent query. Last reply was about 10 mins ago, so they are working through what I assume is a huge number of queries.
Wish them all the best!

I phoned them to check stock availability of a scope before ordering, I was on hold for half an hour and still didn’t get to speak to anyone.
I then placed the order and they took my money, I received an email of confirmation, although it’s been 5 days now and no sign of my scope or any communication whatsoever.
I expect I’ll have to sit on phone now for a hour or so to get my money back.

As has been mentioned above, you’ll find that the majority of items listed as 20% off are not in stock & never were.
It seems like they've made a rod for their own back by doing this as the lady I spoke to on the phone to check up on my order seemed to be at her wit's end checking stock and cancelling orders that never would have been made in the first place if not for the allure of 20% off list price.

I ordered a Leupold scope, waited a week and was told it's not in stock, but to my relief I have received a refund today.

I visited them today, they were very busy !

I eventually got served by a chap who spent a great deal of time with me and my friend , we both spent over £800 all together.

It was a pleasure to shop there and I was served by a very friendly and knowledgeable chap.

The gun I was offered , I didn’t like the no 13 serial number , so the poor chap went to the back of the shop and brought me my lucky number 21, my birthday date is 21 and it’s the 21st today !

Anyway, the chap didn’t bat an eyelid despite me being awkward and fussy !

They said that they had sold 400 guns in 10 days which I believed as the shop looked emptier than normal.

I thanked everyone when I left and they thanked us for our custom !

We’d driven an 80 mile round trip to visit them driving past 2 other gun shops.

Hopefully, someone else will buy it and those friendly and knowledgeable staff working there will still have jobs !

I do understand why the current owners want to retire and make a clean break of it, they’ve worked hard and deserve their retirement.

I work long hours in healthcare amongst very stressful and harrowing circumstances and I appreciate other people’s attempts to provide a service for others.

Anyone bought anything online since they removed the discounted prices from the website?

I called yesterday & they confirmed the items I wanted were in stock (subject to them being sold in any backlog of orders which I can understand). The items were showing as full price online but I was assured when I went to pay they’d be discounted by 20%.

However, when I went to checkout & selected payment method they remained at full price so I aborted before completing the card details.

I tried to call again but couldn’t get through & as I was working couldn’t keep trying.

I’m going to try calling again today as I could really do with the items I was after & getting 20% off would be good.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm when/if the discount gets applied during the payment process please?

Yes, bought items online and over the phone this week, and also a month ago. Got great service. Their payment online has not been working in recent months, so I buy the items online then ring them up to pay and get the discounts. Best wishes for their retirement/next phase in life.

If they actually have what you have put in your basket in stock!

Does me to. However, in this case it does say ALL over their website that there online stock is not live and to call before placing any online orders.

What I'm more surprised about is they employ 4\5 staff and they didn't feel the need to sell the business its clearly cutting a profit? Just a shame/ waste to see another gun shop closing up.
It's a family run business and the girls don't want to take it over. It's a shame but nobody is investing in gun-shops these days; those that exist know that they will pick-up their share of the firms footfall as customers will simply travel to the next closest dealer etc. It's an extremely difficult business to maintain these days with banks turning down gun-shops for accounts and social-media giving them the cold shoulder. It's a tough environment to operate in; which is a real shame.

The lady who works in Malmos said they were looking to wind down their reloading supplies because none of them know much about it to advise customers. Shame because when mcavoys finally close down they'd pick up quite a few customers wanting that sort of thing. Mind the way mcavoys are going buying in new stock they'll still be "closing down" this time next year
