Has anyone had any problems with the boots above? about to buy some for this winter.
atb blue.

Not the above but the Dovre Extremes, utter rubbish, leaked like a siv after a few outings. My 3rd pair of Meindl and my last, look for another boot would be my take on it.

Superb and come in half sizes as quality boots should. Like any leather boots they need a lot of tlc. I also do a lot of hill walking so they are cleaned and proofed regularly. Watch for cracking across top of arch where boot bends and make sure leather is treated and never force dried in sunlight or radiators. Should last you years.

What do you treat them with, nik wax or something different?

Yep. I wet wash them in cold water and dont use detergent. Use the wet proofing on them and once fully dried use wax. I tried stuff like neatsfoot in the past but felt the oil rotted the leather over time. Hill walking is little different from stalking in that you might trek through acidic waters and bog. Make sure they are well rinsed in cold water after they are soaked in bog juice lol. Boots are not a cheap item and I would expect three to five years out of mine depending on use.

A good tip about the acidic water!

the Burma boots are a little low around the ankle i have found Burma Island a better boot ,in between Burma and Dovre for leg hight ,i have all three styles and have worn them daily for years and had no problems ,before them i lived in sprung soled nailed boots in winter and nailed shoe brogues in summer.

A timely post, i have just returned mine, 18 months old but one boot is leaking, i always look after my boots, in fact my last pair were exactly the same model and lasted 5 years, so watch this space, Bramwell have them now, i might have just been unlucky this time.
Cheers

Given up with Meindl boots now - first pair of softline GTX had the sole come off on their first serious hillwalking outing. The replacement pair (over a year later, top marks to Cotswold Outdoors) ended up with the left boot leaking like a sieve. This again was over a year later but they had had virtually no use in this period. I decided to replace them with the Burma's - thankfully Cotswold have an excellent warranty replacement scheme as these were worn a few times indoors and ended up fitting like buckets. They have now been replaced by Scarpas.
My wife has had a pair of Meindls that she has owned for years and loves, looks like their latest offerings are nowhere near the same quality.
Asolo or Scarpa for me from now on!

I really like Meindl boots and they are worth looking after. I use the cleaner, proofing and wax regularly. I try to at least give them a rinse off in warm water after an outing and then let them dry naturally. I run two pairs and alternate wearing them which also helps I think.

My last pair of meindl boots fell apart after 2 years I was very dissapointed as they had only light use and were dryed properly after each outing.

I've had a pair for a little over a year and I use them for stalking and hill walking. I can't fault them

Update, i returned my Meindl Burma Pro's via Cotswold outdoor, they went back to Bramwell's and within 1 week Cotswold told me a fault had been located and a new pair was sent, collected them today.
Now these boots were 18 months old, walked over Dartmoor (Ten tors) various stalking outings and all over Montana, so i wasn't actually expecting anything, but there you go, if you don't ask you don't get, just hope these last.
Cheers

I have a pair that are now well can't remember how old but have never leaked and just spent the last two and a half days tramping round forests and hills in the Scottish Borders. Would replace them with another pair.

Returns rate for Meindl is very low, especially on the leather models. As others have said, they are also very good at replacing faulty products promptly. Wouldn't hesitate to buy them, as long as the shape fits you properly
