Mighty Mick Doohan

I like Mick Doohan, used to follow his progress and have read his Auto biography - thunder from down under…some amazing achievements and tamed a monster of a bike….which eventually led to him being medically retired….

The story of him having to be lifted onto the bike while the track doctors weren’t looking shows just how much dedication there was…

That and them sewing his legs together to get them to heal faster…😳😳

Think it’s fair to say any of the GP riders from the 80’s/early 90’s 2 stroke era were bonkers and have some stories to tell, they must have needed a wheelbarrow to carry around their nuts as they were that big.

GP racing now doesn’t have anywhere near the same personalities, rivalries or machines - that were frankly animals. It’s not boring now but from a spectators perspective the two strokes were far more ‘interesting’.

The safety is considerably better now right enough which isn’t a bad thing when you look at what injures the big names back then carried.

Bonkers barely covers it.

That is some pad John.

Plenty of space.

The 80s/90s was the golden era of Moto GP and they were hardy lads. I'm not saying the more modern era's competitors deserve any less respect as there were and still are some superbly talented riders out there then and now.

Things were just a bit different in the past years, not rough and ready, but ball'# to the wall and get out and get it done attitude.

Cheers
