MODERATOR THREAD SIZE

I am having a 308 barrel threaded for a moderator,what is the most common thread size to allow the biggest range of moderators.

I might be wrong. But most mods will be able to be supplied to your desired thread. I have two wildcat mods, same model but for different calibre rifles with different threaded barrels.

Best bet will be to ask your gunsmith,some makes doesn't do moderators for all threads but other does. I personally like the largest possible for the given barrel contour

My .243 & .270 are 1/2" unf on Rem 700's so the OD profile is the same which in turn means both mods fit the (T8's)
Ask the chap who is making the thread
M14 is a little bigger then 5/8 unf It will depend on the barrel OD if there is enough to put a bigger od mod thread and shoulder.

For a sporter profile, my choice would be M14 spigot.

It will depend on the diameter of the barrel. You don't want to remove any more material than necessary.
Take it to a reputable gunsmith who will advise.
