Hi all, I recently had a client shoot a munty buck that they would like to get mounted. I have it caped out in my freeze but would like to hear recommendations on taxidermists. I’m located near Ludlow, and as much as I’m not afraid to travel, it would help if they arnt ridiculously far away. Thanks in advance, Connor

You can list frozen with lots of ice filler. If so, I’d recommend Colin Scott in Roberton. He charges £600 for a munty with 50% deposit up front

I used Dave Hornbrook in Guisborough for mine, but he's a couple of hundred miles from you.

Another vote for David Hornbrook. He has alot of awards under his belt and does fantastic mounts and they will be completed in under 3 months if he hasn't got much going on. Usually around 2 months. He has done a Muntjac shoulder mount for me, as you can see below. It was done a couple of years back. I'm also due a fox mount next week from him.
He did my Muntjac including shield for £360 plus postage.
I posted them to him, he posts back.

You want it frozen on the day it was shot, to prevent hair slippage, same as you need to with furs for rug making. I either send with Royal mail or Parcelforce, on the best 24hour service. I keep it frozen until the morning of sending. Firm cardboard box, couple of thick bin liners lining it, I insulate the box with lots of bubble wrap too. Get the specimen out the freezer, bagged and then I foil wrap the bag. Pack it all tight and seal well. In this weather, it should still be frozen the next day when received. Good time of year, now onwards, for posting!

The fox is now back from Dave Hornbrook. It was my grandparents victorian mount, decrepid and parrot chewed.

It looks fantastic now. Re-masked on the original mannequin with a fox I shot earlier in the year.
