My diary of my FAC application 😵‍💫

Err, not sure about that - would that not mean that you had no licence for the period of the gap?
Gun owners’ fac woes aside I am astonished that the Gun dealers are not taking legal action for this dreadful GB-wide service. If they sell a gun and cannot get the cash for it for 12 months or more because of the incompetence of the licensing branches they will surely be in serious cash turnover trouble? What business could afford to have stock lying on the shelf for that period?

It is correct.
When my FAC expired I was given an 8 week extension, when that expired I was issued a temporary permit until I eventually received my renewal today.

Section 28B I believe covers this, my tickets expired on 02/09/22, they were automatically extended for 8 weeks and can be used as normal, the accompanying letter clearly states the new tickets will run from date of issue.
I will point out that this was done as all my paperwork was in 8 (actually 14) weeks before expiry, if received after the 8 week cut off I would have to put my firearms into storage at my expense

my renewal took over a year ... several ''extensions'' in various forms from emails to to telephone calls and 5 section 7's ( still have them as souvenirs ) and finally received my renewal...
The bottom line, although not readily admitted by most Forces , is that the Police / Home Office dont like the public owning firearms..

Still waiting, I’m at the six months mark now which is what I’ve been told is the minimum amount of time it will take for the Met but could be up to a year 😒, I live in hope that I get my visit this side of Crimbo…..

My renewal come last week with all extra Cal on. It took 18weeks from first putting in but it ended up only being a couple of months over my renewal date. I called them at least once a week though. I felt like an idiot keep pestering them but I needed it for a trip planned.

Well my renewal eventually landed on the doorstep this morning, only took 9 months.
Unfortunately it has to be returned as has an error 😡
It's took 9 months for a renewal😲😲& just to rub salt in the wound it's incorrectly signed off.
I'm now under Durham FL,not due till 2024 & I ain't looking forward to renewing
Hopefully Durham will have things sorted by 2024 .
The service is shocking at present but hopefully will have improved by my next renewal in 2027.
🤞hope so FH.

Bloody hell mate at least it come through!

Must have come the same day as my grant! I'm over the moon but theres a caliber missing of mine which I was told I could have!

Going to buy my rimfires then send it back!
Glad you finally got sorted with your ticket LW👍least you can get on them bunnies with the rimmie 🐇

Which force is this with? I'm approaching 12 months too
I'm Dorset too and my application has been in since may 21, it was first put onto the system in November 21 and I'm still waiting for it to be processed, not had a call or visit yet so you may have some waiting to do

Just to add to my previous reply, my FAC/SGC extension (28B) expires on 29/10/22, I have just received section 7 tickets that cover me until 28/02/23, suppose I better go and buy ammo while I can

Here comes the latest update of my FAC grant ..... Bring out the cake, light the candles and sing me a song, it's the first birthday of the application! 🥳

Except, really it's no reason to celebrate. At all. I keep hearing of others in the DCC catchment area averaging 18 months. The fella at my local club I previously mentioned has only just got his grant after 23 months. Simply unacceptable.
So the wait continues ..... Suppose I've still got the air rifle and people I can go out with I guess.

I emailed some approved land details this afternoon & asked for an update. Hopefully I’ll be drawn out of the hat soon!
A bit of free advice my friend - write to the CC - marked “Personal - In Confidence” explaining the ridiculous position he has put you in, your dissatisfaction with his performance as the head of that organisation and that you are considering taking him in person to the Small Claims Court for non-production of services paid for - see my earlier post no.56.
Or like so many others, including dealers - just keep muttering and having dark thoughts……

I've already been in touch with the CC who said he'd look in to it. Awaiting a further response. In the mean time, when I spoke to South Yorkshire earlier, they wouldn't give any indication.

Reading through this has made me realise just how lucky I've been with my recent FAC Grant application.

I submitted the forms on the 27th of July, received my certificate through the door on the 10th of October.

The only negatives I really had in the experience was the £132 fee from my Doctors.
