Doubtless only because of an administrative error. You comment is a measure of how far downhill the country has gone. A process that should never take more than 6 weeks, took nearly twice as long and you consider yourself lucky.

Thames Valley, they quoted a 60 working day SLA.

No, sadly not. I think TVP are just on the ball. My SGC application was submitted on 21st of January 2020, and my cert was posted to me on the 17th Feb.
Yeah they certainly seem on the ball. My last variation took no longer than 7 days.
This really goes to show the variety of service between forces. It's great news you had a quick turnaround, and you are good for another 5 years. But the variety between forces is unbelievable. Dorset Devon and Cornwall are shocking. In conversation at my shooting club last night one guy is now 18 months into a renewal. I'm 12 into a grant, no sodding hope

Just off the phone with my FEO/FLO good long chat regards my application and all things related to it, my history & experience so now looking forward to my interview this Thursday.

So after being told they couldn't renew my licences on time, and sending me 8 week extensions to cover the gap, they actually both arrived in the post yesterday with almost a month to spare! In fact, as I gave them 12 weeks rather than the official 8 to be on the safe side, that means they did it in 8 weeks as anticipated. Hats off, really, no complaints. Well done The Met!

Had my interview this morning and all went well, my FEO was happy with everything I have in place, calibers put in for and reasons given plus amount of ammo requested . So itās taken seven a bit months from application to interview which Iām happy with considering the current situation the licensing system finds itself in after the pandemic and cut backs etc .
He did say it ā could ā take up to a month to come through and to keep in touch and if it gets to a month then to get in touch as once heās done his part it has to get signed off by his sergeant who will no doubt have a workload of his own to get through . All in all Iām happy with the process to date, I fall under the Met and my FEO was a decent chap

Hi all, so my November update, it's still a nope.
Just moved house, remounted gun safe securely bolted to the floor and wall in a lockable understair store cupboard (if that's not compliant I'm lost) informed DCC of new address, currently has just my sub 12 ft lb air rifles.
So, 13 months in, and here we are.
Grrrrrrrrr !!!!!! The wait continues.

Renewal & variation submitted in April, still haven't even had the home visit, last attempt at that was cancelled with 55 minutes notice by the FEO

Today will be a month since my visit/interview which went well and was a yes from my FEO saying it will take a month and possibly two but to get in contact if it hasnāt landed by the month mark . Today and tomorrow are Postal Strikes, if my ticket isnāt here by Monday post then I will be chasing it up.

Unfortunately think you'll still be waiting a good 6 months yet- I hope I'm wrong, but have experience with D&C plus heard lots of rumours Dorset are taking it back so that's bound to cause more delays in the short term
That is crazy for a renewal. Jeez. I had a renewal earlier in the year with expiry being May the something. I had the forms in the post 8 weeks prior to expiry as advised by Warwickshire and had no phone call, no visit, no meeting, no nothing. Certs just dropped on the doormat a coupla three weeks after I posted the forms. They didn't even cash my cheque ha ha ha. I actually had to remind them a few weeks later as it hadn't gone through my bank weeks after I had my new certs. Warwickshire have been great since they split from West Mercia.
Mate has just put his renewal in with Northants and they have immediately given him an extension and said it will probably be a while.
