Natural Tick Prevention/Treatment

What natural tick repellants/treatments do you find help?
I've heard cider vinegar with the mother into the dog's water is good (got some on order) and tried a natural repellant spray yesterday on a team of 7 picking up on the moor. So far only 1 or 2 nymphs found on a couple of dogs and it will be interesting to see if I find anymore over the next day or so

One of my pickers up uses rosemary oil in coconut oil,so many drops of the rosemary added to the jar of coconut then rubbed into the spaniels fur. She reckons it works well. Coconut from Tesco, essential oil from health shop.

None is the simple answer and that goes for most of the licensed products in terms of "repellant" for ticks or fleas
