New for 2026

A new bullet that requires rethroating your rifle or rebarreling it? Why would they do that? for what? It's not like a 117 grain bullet is a new thing. Maybe "yawn" was the wrong word? -Muir

If somebody wished to rebarrel their 25-06 as it was past it's best, and wished to shoot the 130+ class bullets that are now available in .25 cal, it may or may not require a slightly longer throat than a standard 25-06 reamer, that's all that was said ?

That was my idea just ? Once the barrel is knackered it was just a thought of why go with a 10 twist if there was a faster option and a slightly heavier bullet as personally I like the 117’s.

Exactly ....
I come into that criteria of a .25-06 1 in 10 twist that near end of it life

The calibre over here muir much loved by many but its not best served by shops for brass and choice of bullets...

The new heavy high bc bullets plus Barnes ne 117grn altho not new weight its non lead and we are going down a possible lead ban here.

And non lead there's only s small handful of options so another is welcomed

It giving the quarterbore a fresh breath of life possibly if these new bullets become accessible
.laws here are easier if rebarreling same calibre but can be hassle for paperwork with authorities if changing calibre....
So might be yawn to you with your veritable dozens of guns in yer gun room... but could mean more options flexibility for those with calibre and a worn barrel
