New Hilux seatbelt alarm disable

I did my RAV4. Was warned about unplugging the seat as it might disable the airbags too. So I took the seats out, took apart the seat belt clip. when you put in the seatbelt it pushes a magnet over a switch. and there's a spring to remove the magnet when the belt is removed.
I took out the spring and taped the magnet over the switch. Fooling the thing to think the belt is always plugged in. 15mins per seat.
Ta da. Problem solved. No more nagging beep.

On my previous 2014 truck, it was like a service reset via key on/off in ignition and pressing odometer button. I'm hoping same kind of thing

If you're off road foxing and want to be covert etc, why not just put the seat belt behind you and push the buckle intob the anchor?
As it just annoys me, especially knowing there's likely a way of switching it off in the vehicle system, like there was in my last one.

Found this previous post for the Mk6 Hilux:

Turning off the Seat belt beeper

(1)turn the car on , do not start engine(leave you foot off the brake).cycle your trip reset knob until you it reads odo. turn the ignition back off. wait a couple of seconds

(2) make sure seat belt is not fastened

(3)turn the ignition back on ,do not start the car(leave your foot off the brake) as soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.

(4)keep your finger on the trip reset knob. fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the odo display go from xxxx ks to "b-on". at that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. it should cycle to "b-off". you should be all set turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

Turning off the Key-in-ignition beep

Under the steering wheel colum is 1 screw holding the plastic on, remove it.

Then turn the steering wheel 1/4 turn left, remove thr screw behind the wheel, repeat for 1/4 turn tot he right.

Remove lower column cover.

On the ignition barrel is a white plug with only 2 wires on the side of the key barrell

Unplug this, and replace the column cover.

I have found no issues after doing this as it is just a loop wire that detects key in lock barrell

The headlights etc still beep.

Turning off the internal alarm sensors (if you have a dog inside) - Temporary

Before closing the drivers door cycle the lock/unlock button on the door liner until the security LED continuously flashes then shut the door and lock with the remote, this will need to be done every time you have a dog inside.

Just don't then have an accident if you do disable the audible alarm! Or you might end up accused of being another Iain Lawrence. A member in fact of the same pistol club in Leicestershire that I was.

Internal alarm can also be turned off by pressing the key fob lock button twice after shutting the door.

The one that drives me crazy is the completely random alarm trigger. For some reason, every now and then, as I get out of the car the alarm goes. It seems to happen if I’ve stopped, sat for a bit, then got out. Not ideal if you’ve parked up overlooking restock, seen a sika deer and want to get out to shoot it…

it's because the car thinks you have left the vehicle most likely and it's auto-locked after 30 seconds, just happens you're potentially sitting too still for the sensors to notice. mine does it too.

it also goes 'off' in the middle of the night several times when it's been on a run and then is turned off in moist/damp conditions, or when it's been damp at night and then sun rises and hits it/warming it up. it's a miracle I haven't pushed it off a cliff yet, it's the most annoying thing I've ever encountered. what's funny is it only started happening after about 2.5yrs, before that it was fine. mechanics can't find anything, auto electrician can't find anything. all's been checked with the usual sensor under the bonnet, door buttons, etc. etc. etc. drives me NUTS!

So I thought this - but the doors aren’t locked when I go to get out. Though I imagine it’s something to do with this.

It doesn’t happen every time - maybe one in 10 times I sit for a bit before getting out.

It also seems to be associated with my phone in some way. Seems more common if been using the phone while sitting. Which suggests it some sort of interference issue as well.

I was driven mad by the seat belt alarm in my Freelander until I discovered that you could kill it by putting the ignition on and VERY quickly engaging then disengaging the seat belt clip 20 times. The warning light on the dash still works but it no longer goes 'Bong Bong Bong'.

As for the driving lights I have no better idea than a hammer or a handy rock.

This worked for my 2019 transit. Bliss
