New Knife model Launch and Offer

Bowland blades

Well-Known Member
Hi all,
In the post " tell me of deer knives " I commented i was right at the stage of the official launching of an new model to the range ". An inch in total shorter o/A than my most popular SLH deerstalker, its aimed at the guy that mainly stalks Roe, Chinese Water Deer , Muntjac and some ground game . However its also been tested by a few of my best customers / stalkers for their input . The real process started around spring this year though one of my mates had a very early version in use much earlier when i was working through the concept.
All these earlier knives where made in 1095 high carbon. Along with the renaming of the knife to " the muntjac" I also switched to the new British made knife steel SF100 , which is both smelted and Rolled in the UK . This steel is just a copy of AEB-L stainless but is available in more sizes and thicknesses than AEB-L and its in plate form not coil like AEB-L meaning no stress relieving process before the HT and few to no warped blades . All our UK based jobs actually rely to a greater or lesser degree to supporting British Business and manufacturing .
Enough waffle though more about the Product itself and the limited first series Launch offer ! Pictures ! Details!
POST WILL CONTINUE AS REPLIES here or the photos of the (leather option) sheath , A cross carry horizontal , allowing ease of access while not getting in the way driving the truck or all terrain vehicle. £40 more than the Kydex which will be in the next post in the thread !

The Kydex is all done in House , its less expensive for this reason and will entail less of a wait time , The leather can be retro- supplied of course you will just pay a bit more in post etc .
As all good leather sheaths should the kydex comes with a welt. this helps prevent a blade finding is way through the joined side and into your antinomy ! One other option is the Neck carry kydex this is also shown here DSC_0634.webpDSC_0636.webp312903967_3353823111567462_5648152905675092333_n.webpDSC_0633.webp

There has been much deception in Knife sales about the actual hardness produced , all my stainless goes out for its heat treatment . I do High carbon and tool steels here here, yes i could do the stainless but i simply would not the temperature control , or precise hold and quenching / warp prevention etc etc that specialist HT firms can give us , i would also have to buy a load of extra testing gear and keep it calibrated . This Batch reached 61-62 Rockwell via calibrated equipment with the metallurgist. A well know UK specialist in the trade DSC_0643.webp

To the knife itself . 2.5mm SF100 stainless stock ,Distil taper from bolster to the tip , Full flat grind , hand polished blade with no grinding lines to 1500 grit ( effectively you can see your relection in it ) . The Primary bevel ( some call it the micro ) on the example shown is 0,7mm , this will vary as its produced by hand and eye . There is another bevel ground along the spine , this helps make the point tack sharp for effective piercing . Measured straight line plunge line to tip the knife is 80mm in length ( being done entirely by hand and eye with will vary a couple of mm) . Handle to tip is 97mm on the example , within that we have a finger / Thumb grove . A couple of seasons ago when tired and rushing i took a deep cut gralloching a few reds in a hurry . This feature helps prevent what happened to me and gives that bit of extra dexterity and is often seen as a double version on caping knives , anyhow it works the handle is 90mm but using the groove gives you 113mm ( the same as my SLH model staking knife ) . As seen is in English Oak burl , its been correctly vacuum - resin stabilized by another expert in the trade and the tree was removed as dangerous over 15 years ago . effectively after stabilizing its as much a plastic as a wood

Cracking looking knife.

I find I always end up taking my smaller knife with me regardless if heading out for Roe or Reds.

So much so I've made my 'Red' knife redundant.

Easier to wield and handle, and ideal for getting a finger under the tip to unzip.

Please be aware IF i am waiting for your age ID you are not yet on the build list . I cannot make mistakes in this area and end up sending anything out unchecked . No mad rush i should have enough blanks to likely see through the weekend

If i am waiting for either your ID or Payment please be aware i cannot add you to the list of takers till i have that . The last unspoken for will likely be gone sometime today , i have already extended the batch but time prevents that going any further

ALL THIS BATCH GONE ! Even the example used in the photos . Will be starting a new batch of 12 comming the new year , Not sure what handles just yet will be something nice though ! Maybe some heavy figured Splated Beech ? ( stabilized / none porous ) stuff you dont get in the shops anyhow
