New led lamps

I use the Ultrafire C8, an AMAZING torch for the price, iirc it was £17 delivered from Hong Kong.

They are that good I have 2 of them and several people I know that have seen the ability of the torch have gone on to buy them.

My 2nd one I have had for maybe 2 months and I am yet to charge it and I use it all the time.

What sort of range are you getting with it?

If im honest I dont know for sure, going by the field below my house I would quite happily zonk a fox at the bottom of it with the ultrafire and im guessing that'l be 180yrds.

Il buzz it with the rangefinder and let you know.

Thats good going. Will be out on the Rugby field later to see how far this will work out to and will be testing on Rabbits and fox over the next week. Looking at the type of Cree LED this unit has its top notch. If I can get a clear view on fox at 200 yards and eyes out past that didtacne then im happy. I rarely shoot foxes past 200 yards at night.

Took delivery of 2 of said torches yesterday. Out this evening and was stunned by the quality and tightness of the beam. Easily do 200yds. It was running on a battery out of my fenix which hasn't been charged for ages and the performance is superb, the 2 cost me £24 which is peanuts as the rechargeable Li on batteries cost as much.

Just found a source of Ultrafire rechargeable batteries at £5.50p each (2000mah) so going to c how these cf to IC AW18650 2200mah (£14 each).

D

The battery is a whole new side to keep the nerds happy. I found somebody in the uk who did 2 off 2800ma for £12 posted. He did lots of testing to see which preformed the best. Then there is the safety and charging stuff. Phew. But still happy with mine. If people with little willies want to pay more than £100, fairy snuff. I am confident with the size of mine. :-D

I've had one of the Ultrafire C8 jobs for a while now as per this thread:

http://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/showthread.php?13317-cree-lamps-300-lumen

and have to say that I'm very impressed with it. Very good tight beam and the battery lasts a hell of a long time. I only recently discovered that the switch has 5 positions; full, medium, low, strobe and SOS morse. Got to get a couple more to keep in the vehicles:

Don't worry about buying from the HK supplier either, mine arrived six days after being ordered.

Which of these LED torches are scope mountable? I have a Cluson Clu-Briter that lives in the truck and is frankly brilliant for my purposes, but I could do with something scope mounted for solo forays.

These lamps are awesome and easily scope mountable. If you want some pics ill add them to the review hsowing it mounted on my scope. Cheers Steve

Nice price, I'll stick with my £13 jobbie all the same + £6 for figure 8 + £6 for battery + £10 for the charger but that is shared with 8 6 other torches. Oh and 1/2 hours work soldering the rats tail on. £35 all in and I bet its just as good. :D

Good luck with it mate. Ive tested a couple of the cheaper LED torches and yes they are good but you wont get 200 + yards of full identification with it. Ok for bunnies though.

I have a Cree and it's ok'ish - also have a ND3 which is probably the best bit of kit I have ever bought. Expensive, and has issues in the cold but overal wicked! Seen second hand ones on eBay for about £120ish

i bought a second hand Deben Tri-Star pro LED light from a nice chap on here. £50
complimented it with a £25 Lithium battery from eBay.

scope mounted, remote switched, light pocketed brightness out to 200yds. certainly further than I will be shooting my .17M2
but if I wanted to stick it on the .243 for foxes I would be confident of ID further than that

still playing around with it, it has a feature which allows you to push the lens into the housing to create a "shroud" in front of the lens, not sure if it effects beam size or intensity at distance but it certainly reduces any back glare from the rifle/scope
