Newbie in South Yorkshire

Hello!

Im Josh, and I am somewhat experienced in shooting but a complete newbie to the world of stalking. I’ve been a member of a local clay pigeon shoot for a while and have shotguns, as well as an air rifle used primarily on the rats that show up around our chickens but that’s the extent of my experience so far!

I would like to learn as much as I can about stalking deer and would love to start getting out on some guided outings within the next year or so and take things from there, so I’m hoping to find some recommendations on guides etc in my area (South Yorkshire)


Down the line assuming I get in well with the sport I would definitely like to work towards getting out independently and going for my FAC and doing DSC’s but for now I’m just looking to learn and take it step by step.

Hi Josh, welcome to the site, I'm Rotherham based too and just starting out, a little further along the stalking journey but still very new. you will learn a lot on here and most likely become hooked on Deer like I have. have fun

hi Josh.

I've been very lucky that I had an opportunity to join a friend up in the Scottish borders for a few trips, other than that I have not been out. like you, I will now be looking at guided stalking, hopefully local until I can get on a syndicate. I will be doing my DSC1 this weekend so gonna see if I can find any contacts whilst there. I will be at Carlton moor range near Matlock.
