morning all, ive been having a look at these scopes and wondered if anyone had experience with them. i know their only cheap but my budget is a little tight at the mo. ive been eyeing up the compact 1.25-5x20 to go on my. 243, its pretty much only going to be used for woodland stalking so a long shots going to be about 70yds so no need for the high mag. my other reason for looking at this style of scope is because the mounts on my rifle are fairly wide and most of the scopes now days have quite short tubes so ive been struggling to mount one and get it to come back enough on the rifle for a good sight picture. sportsmans have them in at the moment for about £120, can anyone suggest anything better for the budget or have anything like this lying around.
cheers, fb

purely out of curiosity what make of rifle have you?

seems odd you cant position a normal scope at the correct eye relief, especially as most scopes have an adjustment ring on the eyepiece.

the rifles an older parker hale 1200 deluxe. ive swapped the std bases for weaver ones. the two scopes ive tried in the mounts wont come back quite far enough as the front mount butts up against the tapered part of the front objective lense. when you mount up the rifle you have to crain your head too far forward to get a full sight picture

I had a nikko Stirling on my P-H Safari Deluxe. It was OK - got me through my DSC1 at the first attempt - but I never really liked it. I changed for a Bushnell, which is still a budget scope, but much better. You would get one at the price you suggested I think.

I have the exact same rifle, IMAG0276.webp

that's an old tasco on there atm, but I've had others on it without problems.

it may be that the scopes i tried on it had a shorter eye relief. one was a bushnell 3-9x40, cant remember what the other was

as you can see from my pic there is plenty [in my case]of room left for rearward movement, was it the same with the standard mounts?

Hello iv got the 4-16x44 tm the glass is OK and the turrets track OK for the money u can't go wrong. it's very similar to the hawke vantage sf 3_12x44 scope probly made in the same factory nice half mil ret

I have a Nikko Stirling target master. I have just taken it off my BLR 308. I don't think that it could handle the recoil as I never got it to hold zero. You are welcome to it if you want. Just let me have postage and if it is no good send it back.
Tusker
