Norma beaten by Winchester!

Right. I bumped a pellet up on a hard surface.

Lubed it up with my black powder lube and tapped it in with a used recovered pointy .30 bullet and then used a rod.
The result was taken after repeating the process twice.
Done on a fouled barrel.

It's a pointless exercise really having little to no control over bullet production other than there appears to be a tight spot in the barrel and no, I couldn't care less other than possibly appreciate how it could induce barrel harmonics and explain why some barrels are different to others???

Well done SD! A variation of a couple of thou in a couple of hundred thou bullet does not appear unacceptable to me especially in soft lead so I guess in the interest of we happy band of SD subbies you could tabulate the conclusions of your measurements against the range of bullets you have and respective accuracy and I could do the same with mine or lets just forget it…..
Why do I feel a rabbit hole fast approaching………

In the age old British tradition, not necessarily the Irish....b*****ks to it! 🤭

Muir's Rules for Rimfire.
1) Don't clean the barrel
2) Don't judge performance of an ammo until you have shot at least 100 rounds of the same LOT.
3) Never mix brands at a shooting session . Having your buddy give you a few rounds of his ammo to 'try' is a waste of his ammo and proves nothing.
4) Read rule #1 again.

Pretty sure .220 is standard for .22 air rifle barrels?

Might explain why RWS subs work well in my rifle, they certainly got more grease round the bullet than any other one I tried. Might just help with inconsistencies of bullet size? Good old days of Eley subsonic, the most accurate one out there.
Eley subsonics are by far the most accurate .22lr round for my Brno.

Shame they seem to be so hard to get hold of, if not impossible. Distinctive smell too...
