NZ / Ozzie kennels

The Kiwi style kennels are second rate in design and user ease of use to the likes of a Mitton Hall kennel

Your first post inferred that a benefit was that any pee and poo would fall through the slats which it actually doesn’t and you end up with pee and poo on the slats and the ground underneath, so double the cleaning.

I speak from the experience of a station I worked at where some dogs were in the kennels longer than others.

You can’t beat a nice bit of polished concrete that you can wash out and squeegee dry if you’re needing to clean up.
If dogs are pi$$ing and $hitting in thier kennel then they aren't being run atleast twice daily or worked enough.

Totally agree, but…

It’s even part of the marketing of them that you can lift them with the forklift!

Even clean kennels need a regular deep clean and the kiwi style ones are a guddle to clean.

I’m just saying that if I’m spending my hard earned money I prefer to spend it once and a concrete pad and decent kennel block that I can walk into is what I’m opting for.

I don't disagree with you regarding the advertising and all that mumbo jumbo. The thing is..... people who actually look after thier K9s and are smart enough to see past all that bull$hit can give thier dogs a real benefit from the raised kennels we have, waaaaaaasay cooler in the summer with the airflow and if you insul them properly they're warm in winters and dont get the ground level damp.

K& M dog boxs in their galvy runs with roof ...on a concrete pad with front drain & soak away ..... in suburbia!

i have water barrel at side that i fill with water & my choice of cleaning fluids ...i have hose with water & i can pick up solids with tescos nappy bags then dose floor with cleaning fluid and scrub with brush & wash / rinse down to drain with hose

deep clean the vet bedding either renewed or washing machine ...hoover out and power wash the lot after rub with cleaning agent of choice .

that raise design just another chore to clean underneath the bu55er!

and yup suburbia ...... amazing amount of folk who visit and spot them......"oh you don't keep your dogs out there do you?" ( bed times we do!)

The raised ones are way easier and quicker to clean. You flip the lid open take out the bedding then it takes less than five minutes to waterblast. Leave the lid open to dry. A hell of a lot quicker than buggering around in a damp concrete floor ground level cage. I never have any solids in my cages because the dogs get run enough.

The kiwi ones literally take less than 5 minutes to clean. Flip the lid open and water blast, leave lid open to dry. Way quicker and easier than hosing off and or scrubbing a concrete pad and drying it out.

I’ll stick to hot water, detergent and a quick squeegee dry of the polished concrete floor thanks.

Insulated boxes get hot water, detergent, towel dry and a new square of vet bed.

I’m happier it takes longer than 5 minutes and is done properly but that’s just me.

Hot water through a waterblaster with a detergegent satchel running through the feeder hose does a way better job of cleaning and dissinfecting than you will with your brush and bucket. Rotate a washable insul bed. Concrete floors are the worst thing for dogs. Gets them at the tail end of thier careers. Unless you have underfloor heating that slab just hauls cold air down even faster than natural in the winter. Do it on a fine day leave the roof open and no towel required.
