Hi all,

Many Thanks for allowing us to join this community. We are Oakland Park. A purpose built Venison and Game processing site, in West Berkshire at the M4/A34 interchange.
Our address: Old Kiln Farm, Oxford Road, Hermitage, RG18 9XX.
At Oakland Park, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our first season, we’re grateful to parts of this community who’ve joined us in bringing their deer to us. We’re looking ahead to coming season.
Our aim is to continue to grow, giving more people in this community the opportunity to be paid fairly for their deer. In order to grow our market, we need supply, we want your Deer!
For the right number of Deer, we can collect, we’re also exploring a hub system where we will have chillers dotted around the country where you can drop off and we collect. We hope to have a pilot hub available very soon.

For note; the Deer we have on site are not a future plan for Farmed Venison, we are only working with Wild Venison. These Deer are part of a Live Deer Sales Plan.

Hello, That sounds a good set up and sure will help a lot of local Stalkers , Are you taking Game and pigeon ?

Hi Flash! We are indeed, we are strict with our grading, we ask that the birds are chilled ASAP after shooting, to ensure they are in the best condition for being able to put into the human food chain. We are currently exploring bigger market opportunities for Game birds in particular, so please call us before bringing in your birds please!

Hi, I've registered with you previously, you have a great setup.
However you don't have a night fridge, I don't really want to break off a good stalking day to deliver deer to you....
7-3pm weekdays, 7-11am weekends doesn't suit me unfortunately.

I'll be interested in your hubs though.

Are you part of or competing with vicars game at ashampstead ?

Hi Ashray,

No we're not part of Vicars Game. There will be some similarities between us, but we are an independent Venison Processing Plant, and we're trying to branch out into new routes to market for local Venison and Game, with strong traceability standards, fair price at source, with a strong community of suppliers and customers.

As Venison and Game increases in popularity we're looking for ways to improve the Route to Market to ensure this amazing protein source goes into the Human Food System and more people get to eat this amazing meat.

Came on the visit a couple of weeks ago with the BDS - a fantastic setup, and a very impressive walk through of the operation followed by a masterful butchering of a roe carcass.

Mrs Gunn was suitably impressed, and I heard her telling several people on our holiday last week in Scotland how interesting it all was, and the level of quality control required to produce a premium end product, whether venison or game.

If anyone has the opportunity to see the facilities I would highly recommend it - it really sets the bar
