Many thanks to Sikamalc and the site staff for allowing me to advertise this:

My friend's 10yr old son has just been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain tumour. They live in Hawaii and there are no neurosurgeons available on the islands that can help, so they are trying to raise funds for the family to relocate quickly to California to get the lad the treatment that he urgently needs. They have set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money so I thought I'd offer up a bit of stalking/shooting here in Mid Cornwall in exchange for a donation to their fund.

What's on offer:
Friday PM duck flight on a fed pond (mostly teal, sometimes mallard) quite challenging, snap shooting. I don't shoot my pond too heavily so shooting will stop at my discretion, maximum bag 4 birds (Followed by a couple of hours lamping rabbits and fox if you like! We have lots of rabbits. Unlimited bag)

Saturday AM stalk for a roe doe, followed by a day of walked up mixed game shooting, mostly pheasant, some excellent woodcock and snipe, also duck and any other game that is in season (potentially over a dozen species) Bring your own dog if you like, as long as he's steady. Unlimited bag.

Saturday PM stalk if you didn't get one in the AM, or a woodcock flight if you prefer or were successful in the AM stalk.

You can keep any game that you shoot and 1xroe doe carcass if you shoot one.
This day is entirely guided by me, may involve being part of a small group of guns and would involve a lot of walking through difficult terrain so you'll need to be fit and able. It also helps if you can shoot, as although game is quite plentiful, the shooting can be challenging! They are fast, wild birds so you will need to be quick! Some excellent mixed bags can be had if you are competent but don't expect to shoot a huge bag of plump, hand reared pheasants ......The emphasis is on quality and variety as opposed to quantity.
If you are inexperienced but quite fancy a challenge, the day could be tailored somewhat to your requirements.

This is for one person and the outings would be arranged for a mutually convenient date (Fri/Sat) in December or possibly January.

Doesn't include accommodation or transport to Cornwall

Day will go to the highest bid received by 21:00 Thursday 19/10/17 suggested minimum £100

You can PM me or post directly on this thread

Thanks for looking everyone!

Sorry to hear about your friends, I hope they're able to get the help that they need...

From experience I can vouch for Buckaroo's tireless enthusiasm as a shooting host, with access to some beautiful ground. The winning bidder here won't be disappointed and will be in for a really enjoyable day of 'proper shooting' so don't be shy.

Thanks Simon.
They've raised a lot of money already but nobody knows how much the treatment might cost in total.

I am unable to make a bid for the day but more than happy to make a donation.
Is there a link to where I can donate please?
Good luck with the auction.

Hey Buckaroo

Sorry to hear about your mates son. My daughter went through some thing similar years ago so happy to start this off at £150, just sorry I can't afford more.

Wish them best of luck from me.

Cheers

I honestly don't know how it would convert the currency Basil. I'm not very good with making payments online I'm afraid.

Thanks Andrew, that's superb. I hope your daughter has recovered fully. It must be a terrifying situation to find oneself in!
Whoever ends up shooting with me will be well looked after!

It seems a bit awkward to be contemplating having such a great time doing something I enjoy so much as I would this day, while a young lad and his family looks at such a difficult time. That said I commend your efforts and those fellow countrymen who are willing to assist this lad.
It is testament to the good will of people on this site, who have and will again to to the aid of others.
So I should like to offer a bid of £250. (sorry that seems a bit mean for such a great day).

That's terrific Woodmaster, many thanks. You are a gentleman and a scholar!!

Congratulations and thanks to Woodmaster, who is the lucky winning bidder!!!

Thanks to some kind offers received yesterday there could be more opportunities coming soon......I will keep you all posted.......

:-D

Well I'm very surprised that someone else with deeper pockets didn't have a bash at this as it sounds like it'll be a great day. Still in a strange way I'm very much looking forward to meeting up with Mr Buckaroo.
It's a small world Tom and I've heard of your adventures with Ruben. As I've said there are many good folks on this forum and it's a credit to the owners and users. I'll write a small piece after I've been down to deepest darkest Devon.

Woodmaster, I'm sure we will have a blast!
Many thanks for the donation.
Let's hope that the weather is fine when we get this plan into action.
Just one thing though......when you get to Devon you need to keep driving because it's in Cornwall!

I'll get my application in for a passport ASAP, and buy me a little book to translate the lingo!
