Hi All, was reading somewhere about certain counties doing a trial with online firearms applications and renewals, but not heard much of it since, anyone know how they got on, did it happen and was it a success?

ACPO and givernment are working on an eCommerce package..... watch this space

This was the latest state of play I read:

23 Forces are interested in being in Phase 1 of the roll outs, starting with Wiltshire in September 2013, followed by
Surrey, Staffordshire, North Yorkshire, Hampshire, Dyfed Powys, North Wales, South
Wales, Gwent, Dorset, Cheshire, West Mercia & Warwickshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire,
Derbyshire, Sussex, Gloucestershire, Thames Valley, Avon & Somerset, Devon &
Cornwall, South Yorkshire and Humbershire. Another 12 forces, plus Scotland are
interested in taking eCommerce for policing at phase 2.

Additionally I found this on the Web which may be of interest.............http://govstore.service.gov.uk/clou...licing-firearms-and-explosives-licensing-7035

West Yorkshire are noticeably invisible on the above list. They'll be doing something totally different for a change.:cuckoo:

We are aware of the proposal, but hadn't the time to go into detail and firearms fees, GP reports/fees, forms etc are taking up todays time. eCommerce will take soem time to come to fruition. In any case those forces who have signed up are the minimum requrie to carry out an ACPO pilot...... fingers crossed that it works and al sign up.

Just wondered if they have gone live yet, It was supposed to be piloted in September , Has anyone gone live yet or is it still in the design stage.

Brother inlaw did his over the phone and so has a work colleague and his dad

aslong nothing had changed from your previous renewal then a new ticket was sent back almost a week or so later
with a visit to follow at a later date if at all

if something had changed like firearms added or removed

you still had your ticket renewed as old and a visit arranged ASAP so they could check the new detail before issuing an upto date ticket
atleast it meant you still had a valid ticket in your possession instead of waiting months for it to arrive in the post

Hi Stone, what areas are they in? i am in derbyshire, where are you based, will ring firearms dept tomorrow see what they say and if there are any plans for this in my area, thanks for the reply, :thumb:

Not sure if it's the same, but I've just bought 2 shotguns and all I had to do was send an email with all the details on to the firearms department.

My certificates are due renewal in February, I received a large letter today from the police urging my to fill out the enclosed old application forms and submit them asap or alternately wait until 1 Dec and submit the new forms online. Not sure whether the new ones will be easily processed

is the new online porcess going to be wide spread or just in certain areas around the country? how do you put new pics of yourself on and do the bit this is a true and correct likeness?? and signing, thanks for the reply black dog will look forward to see how you got on if you do it online

No this is something entirely different Mark, electronic communication of transfers has been legal for some time now. Since April two years ago if my memory is correct, but some forces were willing to accept this by informal agreement for some time prior to that.
