Believe me after shooting for 40 years it's not easy.

For a start where do you find a suitable person?

I have had a few shooting partners over the years , good and bad.

Some were unsafe which ended asap and others just unreliable and then there's the ones that go behind your back.
I remember taking a guy ferretting on a new permission whom I'd ferretted with for years. Next time I went with him the farmer asked how we got on last week and I said I wasn't ferretting last week to which he replied but your mate was

I am lucky now that my mate and I are on the same wavelength so it works great.

I still shoot solo most of the time which I love as you go where you want when you want , no pick up times or home times just please yourself.

I must have just been lucky, I have been shooting ferreting etc etc for 40+yrs and never had this problem, I have taken friends and friends sons out to help them get into the sport but they have never went behind my back.

I’ve had a couple of people come out with me, but I haven’t managed to find anyone locally who I can just ring and go out that night

Right, here we go, I thought I’d put this up and see if there’s any interest

I’m in a position to offer someone the chance to spend some time with me ( you lucky lot ) I’ve taken people out for many years doing all manner of shooting from rabbits, foxes, deer, driven game etc. now over the past year or so most of these people have drifted away and I currently spend 99% of my time out on my own
What I would like is someone who is just starting out, hasn’t got anywhere to shoot, doesn’t currently have an FAC or SGC, or would just like a foot in the door that could lead to all different shooting adventures ( I don’t mind if you have any of these things, what I don’t want is some old timer like me who has been there and done it and wants to give me their opinion because not wanting to offend, but I don’t care )

It wouldn’t just be that you get to come shooting, it would be you get to come for a walk out with me, maybe a bit of shooting ( once we get to know each other) sometimes a hand up at the pheasant shoot I run, with little jobs and feeding birds etc etc

I’m in the Teesside area and have a lot of land to shoot over from Durham to Helmsley ( North Yorkshire) so I think this could be a good opportunity for someone with an interest in field sports, like all good relationships we’d take it slow, maybe an evening out once a week and we’ll see where it leads, if anyone is interested let me know, don’t be offended if you don’t get an invite and it would also help if you lived somewhere near me because I don’t do long distance relationships

I'm a new member of the site and just seen this. I can't believe you've not been snowed under with offers ?. I wish I were a bit more mobile, and a bit nearer being near Ripon. But able to just get in the car and go as and when required. I hope you get sorted buddy. All the best.
