Waited one and a half hours for this one to come out the high grass where he was eating figs from the trees (obviously more interesting than the four hares wandering around and the lamb intestines I put earlier-all upwind).
Now a few months off as broke my arm when walking the dog…

Some dog! How big is it!?Now a few months off as broke my arm when walking the dog…
Biggest I stopped so far. Around 15 kg…Some dog! How big is it!?
That’s a big un!Biggest I stopped so far. Around 15 kg…
It's a jackal not a fox.15kg that's 33lb if so that is enormous.
The biggest I have ever shot is 23 lb and that's a lump.
Not many 30lb+ foxs have been shot.
D
Proper gun too!Couple of hours out at teatime checking on pigeons , not as many about as was expecting but what birds there was decoyed great ....Nice to be out for a few hours.

Nothin’ off thread about that evenin’ outing.a bit off thread but I was out last night on a mates farm. he wanted some rabbits cleared up
I took my .17HMR which I haven't used for years now, I forgot what a fun easy rifle it is to shoot
i thought it might of been a bit windy but i was still killing rabbits out to about 120yds
so 6 rabbits in the bag and i swapped over to my .223REM with a pile of rabbits guts next to my caller it wasn't long before a 3/4 grow vixen got the cent
and went straight in (and straight down)
so a good evening all round
ive still not shot a fox with the .17HMR, but next time i might leave the .223 behind
Nicely done. Ive shot a few foxes over the years with the HMR out to around the 100 yard mark. Stick the bullet right between the eyes and its game over. In case anyone starts with the "cant use HMR for Fox" my ticket states, Vermin and AOLQ so all gooda bit off thread but I was out last night on a mates farm. he wanted some rabbits cleared up

I don't say "Cant", But I will say "not recommended" (From a good knowledge base).Nicely done. Ive shot a few foxes over the years with the HMR out to around the 100 yard mark. That in one night?
Yep - last night - clue in the thread title….That in one night?
Kb.
Only ever shot within what I deem acceptable range and never had one run on (only shot about 5 over the years when Ive been after rabbits) . To be fair I mainly shoot foxes with a .243 these days so don't necessarily disagree with youI don't say "Cant", But I will say "not recommended" (From a good knowledge base).
sorry guys I didn't mean to kick a hornets nest. I got the .223 for foxes because I wasn't happy with the thought of shooting them with the .17 in the first place
I like most know guys who shoot a lot of foxes with a .17 but to me I'm happier being over gunned than under gunned just knowing i can shoot a fox out to 250yds plus with the .223 puts me at ease and also saves me having to call them into range on the .17
Can you use "Cant" and Deer in the same sentence in Wales Mike?Nicely done. Ive shot a few foxes over the years with the HMR out to around the 100 yard mark.
