Out last night.

Headed back out at home last night and was partially thwarted by 1) neighbours finishing pulling up the fence (ok it was dark but maybe 8 ish), then 2) the rain came in earlier then expected. I decided to take shelter under a small wooden shed we have and saw a fox crossing our neighbours field 300 or so yards away. Despite hand calling and using the electronic caller..no interest. Decided to call it a night and one last check and there was a fox about 70 yards the top side of the house on the bank. Quick adjust of position and a hand squeak and she helpfully sat down to try and figure out what was going on.

120 grain Sako Blade from the creed put an end to proceedings. She was about 90 yards away so not exactly challenging. No 42

Careful you don’t strain the barrel on that Creedmoor shooting at small critter that far away! 😘

Ps. Only joking.

 I thought I would push the range for a change. Much past 50 yards with the creed is a bit far. Thought that 120 grn copper would make up for it .... just on the off chance I actually hit the fox :)👍

Cheers. My oversized baby :) Not my normal foxing rifle as this is my deer rifle but I havent had time to do anything with scopes after deer stalking last week so thought it would do for the foxes. Its a Mike Norris custom. Zermat Origin action, MDT Timber Frontier stock with some other fancy bits I cant remember . If I do my job not much escapes 👍
I'd try and get that scope away from the barrel a bit - you want to be careful with interference with them kinda tolerances

Sako gamehead 56gr in .223
Nice tight groups and terminal effects are fantastic. All stone dead looks like by the time they’ve hit the floor.

I'm on the 50gn equivalent in same calibre. I don't get those dramatic VMax style exits (often no exit at all) but they seem to turn the insides to soup and generally drop on the spot when I do my bit (noting the runner a few pages back which was almost certainly user error!).

That mirrors my experience. There’s a thwack, fox drops and literally no twitches. A very effective projectile.
Bought a 1-8 tikka in .223 incase of lead ban, doesn’t seem to like the lighter stuff at all.

Would like to try some heavier still. I’ll have to see if Rural sports can rustle me some up.

Is the proposed lead ban going to affect .224 calibre bullets?
I thought not.

So I braved the showers and got in position to wait for my fox and then the fun started!
My cell was nearly spent in the spotter so I swapped it for a spare, switched the unit on and it blacked out! The cell has died. Puts old one back in and the indicator turns red 🤦.
Fox never turns up but what did turn up was a large black cat about 300 yards away. I took a look through the Zulus and it was black about the size of a fox. I moved in but never saw it again!
Anyway I headed back to the car wondering just when is my spotter going to pack up.
As I neared the car on the farm track I looked into the field on my right and a little vixen is sat down watching me just 40yds away!
By the time I get the rifle ready it's run away and is now in a slight depression just peeping at me from about 140yds away.
Then another shower rolled in and soaked everything!

In the video I noticed I'm a touch right for the shot so errm I think I was lucky there!

Nothing lucky there , poleaxed 👍

I mentioned about them running already about 3 weeks ago and since have had 4 pairs shot so far, saw these off my cam this morning, definitely pairing up here already, this boy is following with intent.
