Pard 007 advice

I’m thinking to get a used Pard 007, which will be primarily for .22lr for rabbits. I might occasionally use it on a .204.
I know absolutely nothing about NV or the Pard, other than taking the time to set it up properly is crucial for good results.
So, other than the unit itself, what else do I need, extended mount, can I leave my scope in the same position for daytime etc, any bits n pieces that don’t come with the Pard, that will be useful.
The rimfire scope is a 6-24x50 Sightron S3, the .204, a Bushnell Tactical 30mm tube.
Any advice most welcome.

You can leave your daytime scope as is, but due to it being a rear add on, you probably could do with some form of aftermarket stock extender to help with the eye relief.

I would also suggest getting a second mounting ring, keeping one on each rifle scope making it easy to change between them.

The Pard IR is good for around 100 yards, however it does depend if you have any high turrets up top of the scope. Massive step up in distance will come from a laser, which would help your 204 be more useable. If you get a laser, you would need a mounting kit if some sort.

Think that’s about it. Never ceases to amaze me how far you can see with it in absolute darkness.

If I had a 6-24 dayscope, I wouldn't be thinking about getting a PARD add-on
The PARD effectively increases the overall magnification of your set up by a factor of x2 which means your base magnification will be x12
Have fun even trying to find a target in the dark with that narrow field of view
It'll be like looking down a very long toilet roll tube.

Minimum pard mag is 1.5 IIRC therefore 6x would become 9x

I generally use 7x on the PM2 and use 2x on the pard007 therefore 14x

I use my pard out to 300m with the on board ir. i can’t understand why everyone says that it’s only good to 100m.

Ive just set mine up on a 22 rimmy and .177 pcp, wound the mag back on both the scopes, ( I got the two scopes specifically for this as my scopes are zeniths ) set the parallax at 50 and 30 yds respectively had a wee Tink about with the IR and I’m pretty pleased with mine for what I want it for, its spot on

ok with the onboard IR plenty good enough

really easy to adjust for scope eye relief no special mounts required which is a plus ( or ive got a short neck )

just ordered some decent rechargeable batteries - all good to go - overall a very easy to set up NV

Haven’t really stretched its legs on more distance work, for what I want it for its ideal

dead easy on rabbits _ well done to pard on providing a wee NV scope - that works perfectly

I found the 3x mag on the scope just right if that equates to a 6x via the 007 I would have thought that is a good all round magnification for anything up to a 100 yds with ease, i’ve set mine up for clarity at the ranges I‘m looking for

300 yds let alone metrs is a long way at night, my N355 on my 222 Is good for 250, the 17 hornet with the 470s 200 ish yds Are you getting a good pic at that range, I’m using 850nm IR’s but don’t get the clarity at 300 yds for a shot with any of those units

Interesting. With my 12mm and 16mm Pard they both default to no information in the bottom left corner and I assume a magnification of x1. The first press of the zoom button brings up 1.5x in the bottom L/H corner together with a just discernible increase in magnification. Each press of the zoom button then cycles through the various zoom magnifications to a maximum of 3.5 after which a further press reverts back to x1 (no information in the L/H corner). As an aside, I've always been a bit miffed as to why the 16mm version seems more popular than the 12mm. The scopes I bought for my rifles are of the magnification I want and the 12mm version of the NV007 more or less retains that. So if folk are happy with the scopes they bought why buy the 16mm version of the Pard NV007 which will increase the base magnification and reduce the field of view when the 12mm version will retain what you chose in the first place?

There’s 2x optical magnification to factor in with the Pard before you even get to those digital ones. On my 2.5-17.5x56 S-Tac I’m at 70x mag when using max on the scope and only 2x digital on the Pard - hares look as big as heffalumps at 300m with the right IR!

I measured the OPTICAL magnification of the PARD as x2 - the numbers in the bottom of the screen are digital magnification and will just make things worse for the OP

E gli ingrandimenti digitali da 4x a 14x che significano?? Sono ulteriori? Mi aiutate a capire? Grazie anticipatamente

12mm is very likely to create a distorted visible black infringement around the whole image regardless of scope used. 16mm it will happen on some scopes, although certain scopes the image fill the full field of view great.

I prefer 16mm over 12mm models, my own personal choice..

l'ingrandimento verrà applicato a tutti gli intervalli. quindi se 3 è 4, 14 sarà 17. ma mealijimmy, che ha esperienza, ha misurato l'ingrandimento quasi x2. Ciao
