Hello fellow stalkers, my name is Ivan I live in the Peak District, central England, with my wife and two daughters. I enjoy all all forms of shooting starting in the beating line at 8 and progressing to running my own shoot at 30. It was during running the shoot I first got into stalking as Roe began populating the woodlands. The syndicate was fiercely protective of this brave little colony of Roe and they are still fiercely guarded from poachers to this day. So to describe my early intro to deer as stalking would be an abuse of the term as it was only to deal with any injured deer. Many years on and stalking has become my passion above all other pursuits in the field. I'm in a syndicate in the Scottish borders stalking red and roe and have some ground of my own locally where fallow pass through. I shoot with a .243 and have a .308 on my FAC but have yet to purchase one. I've joined this group to gain more knowledge on the subject and share some of my experiences too.

Welcome, from one newbie to another. And I’m not that far from you.

Welcome from Scotland. If you are concentrating on roe your 243 is fine. Its all about the correct bullit type and correct shot placement. Always get in as close as you can. It looks like we will all have to go down the copper route soon. We will all need to experiment with types to see what performs best. Keep an eye out on the subject.
